Thunderbird Club

Once on a plane, the passenger in the next seat tried to prevent me being served an alcoholic beverage with my meal on the basis I was 'underage'. That rates about a 15 on the obnoxious arsehole-o-meter.

Really unfortunate to be trapped on a plane sitting next to an arsehole. It's one of the reasons I hate flying - that and about 15 other things.

For women. For guys like me who never completely make it past adolescence, it's yet another 14th birthday every year. That may or may not be a good thing.

I wish mine would give me HO trains and some new girlie undies for my B day.

That'd be interesting too see. A double knockout?
How about a cage match with "45"? The promotion of this fight has had about the same level of empty theatrical macho bravado.

Note: Not referring to a pistol, malt liquor or football player. But so as to create enough ambiguity to not violate TB rules, I could be referring to a phonograph record.

That paying to watch two grown men punch each other in the head until one passes out is considered entertainment, is not a testament to the heights of human civilisation.

(Me not being a sports fan for the most part), Feel that way about most contact sports. To this day i especially don't understand boxing.
Human civilization, it's a bloody mess all around.

This gets ugly, actually.

Agreed - "arrested adolescence" - anyone currently living in the US now sadly understands how destructive this is as a working reality. Otherwise,"nostalgia" is (mostly) harmlessly 'sold' as a concept, as an excuse for entertaining nostalgia that results in someone making money. In this respect, nostalgia is probably one of the biggest drivers of consuming out there - especially for the bulk of the 'baby-boomers' (as in, those with $$) still moving through the system. It will shift to the next generation eventually - that is what marketing does. It's a slippery slope adolescence - but one that's easy to target-market.
