Thunderbird Club

It will shift to the next generation eventually - that is what marketing does. It's a slippery slope adolescence - but one that's easy to target-market.
I read something recently that argued marketers are having a hard time figuring out Millennials. On average, they aren't buying big ticket"stuff", such as cars or homes. I do find it interesting that media such as record albums and cassettes are enjoying a renewed popularity with some. Evidentally, there aren't enough places to make cassettes to keep up with demand.

I find that the CNN series on the different decades markets heavily on nostalgia, when it comes to pop culture (music, TV and film). They fawned over every TV show of the 90s, as if it was the first time that anyone had ever produced a comedy, drama or sci-fi series. There is very little critical reflection. It is mostly "remember when"? I haven't seen the music episode for '90s but was pretty disappointed on the one from the '80s.

Didn't know about the CCN series - will have to watch it. As much as 'the Millennials' are harder to put in the same 'BB' marketing scheme - they will eventually fine-tune it with laser accuracy. It's what's know as "pop culture" and it's very elastic. Every era has their own version and it's always reactionary to the era before it. That alone is a given marketing strategy, which searches for how that 'reaction' is playing out organically. Once they spot the source - that's where the target marketing locks in.

Well if that's the case @TBird1958. What particular trains do you need in your fleet, and what's your size?

I have H.O. scale trains, and lots of them, at least 500 pieces (I haven't counted recently, probably really don't need any more.....) but these are some of the best H.O. scale models you can buy, as you can see they're not cheap. They're very accurate in every detail, the die work is usually from scans of the prototype, cut by computer. I have several of these, including the PRR X58 boxcar, exquisite model!
Anyway, not a hint, I really do have plenty already - I sincerely appreciate the thought :)

Treat yourself to a nice birthday purchase, you still need that special on stage butt bow...

That paying to watch two grown men punch each other in the head until one passes out is considered entertainment, is not a testament to the heights of human civilisation.

Sounds like Australian rules football.

Interesting trivia about Fountains of Wayne. An old friend of mine built some effect box enclosures for them because they are notorious for being really rough on equipment. This same friend also restores old Moogs. I think he was friends with Bob Moog.

I'm a Capricorn & Jan 12. I don't get the one present thing but I get complaints about how hard it is to think of another present so soon after Christmas. They should be happy they can shop in the post Christmas sales. :)

One great thing is it's a top time of year for backyard parties. I appreciated that through the teens and twenties.
Oh, and I never went to school on my birthday.

Hey, I'm also January 12!

Not so great for backyard parties in Canada though, lol

Kinda looks that way. I'm near the cusp with a Dec 20th b'day. But I'd say my tendencies are much more Sag than Cap.

So when growing up you probably got the same old birthday treatment as most other Archers - "I didn't know what to get you for your birthday and Christmas so I got you a combined present". :(

To this day, my wife makes a big deal out of never combining the two events. To the point that a couple of years ago she got me a TBird for my birthday and a Warwick Thumb bass for Christmas. Gotta love that woman!:)
Hey man, uh... she gotta sister?;)

Also Cap. January 2.
Not so much with the backyard birthday parties. Were one to be wearing knickers, they would surely be frozen off:eek:

What's the odds on that?!

Yep I thinking our temperature will be a little 'north' of yours on Jan 12.
My Alberta cousin Pete heads south after Christmas, giant size Silverado with trailer, and a Harley strapped to the back.

A 612 is proper hardcore.

The only thing I would like more than my 212 is a second 212 ... or a 412.

Couldn't agree more. I am on my second 2X12 cab and had a 4X12 in the past. If the right 4X12 comes along again I will grab it. I like my Genz Uber 212 a lot and it only weighs about 63 lbs. A 6X12 would be brutal at loud-ish volume, and I mean brutal in a good way :D

I'm with you that Kat, 2 of those 212 AV's would just tear it up.

There's something about a 6x12 that just says "I came here to be loud and heavy." Even more so than a full stack, a 6x12 just seems to be bada$$, like you are most certainly not messing about when you roll up with one.

Did anyone say 4X12's???

Here's a picture from '81/'82 with my old Marshall full-stack in the background, which every venue owner and soundguy absolutely hated... :)

Sorry for the FSO content... ;)
