Thunderbird Club

Hey, I'm not far behind Mark to 60 and I still haul a big ol' folded horn ACC 360/361 around. Pain is relative. Sound isn't.
I have nuthin' but respect & admiration for those who are passionate enough about their music and their gear to endure the hardships, pratfalls, and inconveniences often associated with acquiring, hauling, and maintaining real vintage and authentic vintage style gear. There's also something to be said for folks who are lucky enough to be able to find "their sound" using modern equipment that is lighter weight, more affordable, and easier to replace. As long as the smile on yer face is a legitimate one, yer usin' the right gear;)

Jeees, When did this club become FaceBook?

When we discovered that we all like each other for more than our collective love for TBirds of every feather.

the blurring of social media -

Yup.

"Wily" - Mexican hairless rapscallion - not mine but I'm his "uncle" :)

Is this the reason for the pup's name?

No shame living at home, I did it up until a few months ago, and I'm 24. Feces' economical. And I make dumb purchases all the time, see above.
I would not consider a Sunn 6x12 a dumb purchase. I just got an acoustic 301 couple weeks ago. It's items that can be resold. What I consider dumb purchases is a giant inflatable T-Rex costume that my buddy bought out of impulse, and popped it the first day he had it. Or buying a new MIM Telecaster instead of finding a used Made in USA for cheaper, which is what one of my other friends was planning on doing before I slapped some sense into him.

here's the google photo album of my Tbird, made a few minutes ago: https://goo.gl/photos/Vr18E2jNPexyGRLZ9

the bridge pictures ad old, and I made them for another topic, to ask if every Tbird has these wierd "too much radiused" saddles :D

I upload them even here on Talkbass, just to keep track on the forum.

PS: random fingered Tbird:

it's because of him and his tone that I first started looking at this bass n 2009, and only bought one in 2017 :D long story

I have to tell this: the bass has been used a lot from the previous owners, even if kept nearly as new (except some minor dings), and still the frets looks like they were never touched by strings.
the previous owner used only Rotosound Swing66 on this bass, and if I'm not wrong only steel in general for the others.

when I bought it, the frets were opaque and dirty, I polished them and wow, brand new.
on any other bass I've owned in the last 10 years the frets were always signed by strings, and polishing only made them shine, but didn't remove the scratches.
Gibson frets are probably made of some kind of adamantium :P even the '76 Ripper of my friend (the previous owner) had nearly new frets.

I actually like 12 inch speakers. Think it's a good compromise between 15 and 10. Sometimes, I find 10's too thin sounding.

I'm picking up a Sunn 6x12 basketcase for restoration this weekend. Which will bring my cab total to...uh...three 2x15s, two 1x15s and one 6x12, powered by two Sunn 2000s, one Sunn 1200s, and a Marshall JTM 45/100.

I would not consider a Sunn 6x12 a dumb purchase.

A 612 is proper hardcore.
