I friggin' hate Instagram. It just doesn't make any sense to me. Nuffin' but a s#!tload of pictures with comments underneath. Of course I found @GibsonGuitar... but again... nothin' but a bunch of pics. No way to search for this announcement. Hell... no announcements of any sort... just row after row of pics. I gotta be missing somethin', cuz this is pretty much like sitting down & thumbing through a stranger's photo album. I agree... it's beyond moronic to not post news and announcements on yer own website. I'm sure it's just the new breed of old fashioned... but if I wanna know about a given product... the first thing I do is go look at the manufacturer's website, so I can get misinformed right from the horse's mouth!

The pedal breeders? My brother has that habit. He thinks I'm really a drummer. I think he's really a synth player. There may be some truth in both.

Theoretically it does everything the gazillion different pedals do...all at once if you desire. What it did for me was confirm I don't want any of them.

Mine is a little more involved, but not much. Wireless receiver/tuner -> Compressor -> fDeck HPF -> ToneHammer -> amplifier. The compressor isn't alway on, and is minimal when it is on. HPF is for dealing with upright bass feedback, and the ToneHammer is mostly for making the upright sound like itself when really loud. Compression kicks in for the 'Birds and the ToneHammer settings change a bit depending on how things sound in the room. That way I don't have to monkey with the amp very much. It also has DI capabilities for the vanshingly small number of times I can go direct and leave the amp at home.

It lives on a board, goes in a case, and has one power connection and one cable to the amp. Wireless means it doesn't even have a cable to the bass. It's the 30 second setup gear.

Compressor is something I’ve never understood the need for. Not that I don’t like it; I just don’t totally understand them. And it saves me money. :)

That's classy that is. Everything you need and nothing you don't.

Different compressors do different things. The Thunderbuckers obviate the requirement for it, but I'm sentimentally attached to the Diamond ... and maybe one day I'll need it again. The Diamond makes everything fat, warm and shiny, don't think it's well suited to slap and that sort of thing, it's hardly what you'd call 'transparent'.
