But it IS A NECK THRU bass with 2 Humbuckers.
For my birthday my family bought a 2015 EBMM Stingray Neck Thru. It is mint with the pick guard plastic still on it. It was a demo model that never sold.

IMHO... that is the Music Man to have!!! That's a whooooole lotta bass right there! It's not uncommon to see those in the 10 - 11 pound range! What does yours weigh?

I'm sure there's a wealth of info in this thread and others, but at 40k posts here i might have a hard time finding the answers i seek. So i wonder if someone could point me to some relevant threads or info sources to answer a couple questions about these birds, any threads regarding setup technique, common mods, etc.
  • - Best Setup practices:
    • 3-point bridge; seems awful finicky and mine already popped out of the body as i adjusted it, is this a thing?
    • what about the saddles, are they supposed to just fall out like that? what happens when a string breaks
    • any tips to best pickup height for sound/playability
  • Options for bridge upgrade?
  • Volume knobs - one knob on mine doesnt have a hard stop - its mushy and allows a little extra motion, but feels like it will break. Is this the pot or cracked plastic in the knob?
    • do these knobs just pull off?
    • Are there any specific replacement knobs that will fit - something with some texture that i can roll with the pinky instead of twisting with two fingers. These knobs seem slippy and pots seem stiff.
TIA for any advice, sorry for the noobie and lack-of-search questions. i haven followed talkbass much in the past but recently have spent more time on here finding lots of great info.
And i'm super stoked about this Thunderbird!

Old bathroom scale says 10 lbs. But doesn't seem over-encumbering, unlike my Studio V which, using the same scale, is roughly the same weight.

Jeeeeeeeez... another bodacious new addition to the family! I've been ogling that same bass at one of my local stores. If it's still around when the cash comes in, it'll be on my list of serious considerations (that's a mighty big "if", so I'm not really counting on it).

Typically bass on noon or slightly cut or boosted depending on stage. Low mid bumped up to 1-2 high mids and treble both 2-3 range. No buttons pushed, overdrive usually around 9 for light grit when used, gain and master generally around noon as well.

All numbers are "o'clock" not 0-10

Nice. I moved to the AO from a B3K. I wanted the additional features of the B7K and tried one along with the AO, but found the AO much better-suited to the Thunderbird and my tastes. I drive the pedal pretty little, just to add some beautiful dirt.

Reminds me of a bad joke disparaging my people, about one of my people and a Czech in the forrest, and 2 bears come up and one eats the Czech. My fellow tribesman in the joke couldn't remember if it was the male or female bear which ate his friend, and when the ranger needed to know in a hurry to know which bear to shoot, he said it was probably the male. But apparently it was the female. The punch line was to never trust one of my fellow people who says the Czech is in the Male. Man that joke was bad.

*in Walter Sobchak voice "Antisemite!" As he punches the ignoramus who told that joke.

I told that Kraut down at the league office that I don't roll on shabbos!

I didn't have to, he was a dear friend despite his annoyances, but he was also rather aloof, and wasn't paying attention riding his bike and listening to presumably bad jungle techno on his headphones and his.head met a windshield.

Any chance he had to rib me with a jew joke, he took. Lost a friend, but also had one less.annoying source of ignorant Jew jokes.
