Even though it's not a "neck" as we currently know it, a case can be made that they do in fact have an analogue to a fingerboard. Perhaps they aren't actually neckless after all, and their very wide sections where the strings are strung are, in fact, neckalicious.

I have both a Spectorbird and a Gibson Thunderbird. If there's any interest out there I'll do a head to head comparison and highlight the pros and cons of each one. Don't know if I can swing a YouTube or sound cloud comparison but will try to do that as well.

I'll have front and back shots of both side by side. Here's kinda the run down I'll do...

Visuals - Look, fit, finish, appearance, build quality

Physical - Hardware, pickups, electronics, weight, scale, adjustability, dimensions, frets

Playability - Reach, speed of neck, action, balance seated/standing, right hand responsiveness, fretwork, fingerboard, marker visibility

Sound - Finger style, Neck solo (centered tone, bass tone, treble tone, volume), Bridge solo (centered tone, bass tone, treble tone, volume), Even blend (centered, bass tone, treble tone, volume), Pic style, Slap, Pedal friendly (fuzz, overdrive, chorus, reverb), Amp friendly (tube, solid state, hybrid SS/tube)

Marketing - Price, availability, customer support, after market upgrades, resale value, options

Test settings - strings used, clearance between pickups and strings, amps/cabs and settings used, cord brand and length

I don't think I can swing a vid or sound clip at this time. However, if there's another TBer in the north Los Angeles or Ventura area that has that capability I'm game.

Yeah, should be interesting. Going into it I'd say that neither one is going to walk all over the other. They both are fantastic basses with a lot of similarities and differences.
