Thunderbird Club

I haven't been able to find anything in Enay for less than $1000-$1500 bucks
You'll see the Rex5 Pro model in the used section at Guitar Center and Sam Ash all the time for around $600. A great deal at that price. Just be sure which model it is youre buying (sometimes GC has them advertised wrong). The Pro version of the Rex is the one with a neck through, all maple body, EMG HZ pickups and BT preamp. It sounds, feels and plays different than the Legend X body. The Legend X (sometimes called Classic Rex Brown) has a bolt on neck and SSD pickups and costs less than the Pro version. I found the Pro to be more versital sounding than the Legend and more bang for the buck. The Legend had an all around darker tone and a little less definition and I think only comes in 4 string vs the 4 or 5 of the Pro model. I think either can be had in holoflash finish or trans black over quilted maple.
Happy hunting!

This GAS is killing me!!! They don't open for another :20 min. Let's see if I go home with it. If the universe intends on my ownership they they have to drop it 10% for me to take it. I'm going in with a non GAS attitude though. Take it or leave it sort of being.
Easy way to get some $$ off.
Look up spector rex on GC website; there's one for $549 I think, telk them to match it or you'll just buy the one from online.
They WILL match it just to get the sale for their store

This does work at GC! I've successfully bought three different basses using this approach. Just make sure they are the exact same models. I've seen GC price a used set neck Pro at the bolt on neck Legend price point, I jumped on it quick!

I hear ya! I ended up buying an Alembic there for a couple thousand less than the going street price. They don't always take the time to do proper research on their pricing. Most of the time, when there's an error it seems to be in the buyers favor. I'm not complaining.:smug:

They do list a Brown Rex on the website fo $549 but when I click the link it says sold out. They have two 'black' at $599. He would not move an inch. Bob asked me what it would take (when I first got there) I said 15% off I will take it home today. That woulda been $510, nothing. Not even a counter offer.

He did tell me if I buy it tomorrow(8days) for every $50 spent I would get $10 GC Cash. Basically I get to spend $120 worth in the store. I have no idea what that would lead to.

So basically I said no for now. We will see what tomorrow brings.

Oh crap! Wait lol

I almost forgot! I got an email from them a little while back that if I signed up for txt notification I could get a one time 12% off coupon for an E gift card.

Used to for a 1k gift card and was only charged $880 for it.

I'll see if I have the link still. Was good till the 8th.

Ok I found it. You have to text music to a certain number.
I'll post it if its not against the rules, or just pm me

Hmmm, let's see...
The $600 asking price is about $50 to $100 more than the going street price for a 4 string Rex Pro trans black. He's offered you $120 in store credit so that more or less brings him down to the going street price or better. If its the neck thru Pro model and comes with the original hardcase I'd take the deal and buy a nice $120 pedal to go with it. If it doesn't come with a hardcase I'd offer him $575 plus he throws in a hardcase. If its the bolt on model I'd pass, you can find better deals out there.

Also keep in mind, you can't beat GC's return policy. That feature alone is worth at least $50 to me.
His deal isn't earth shattering but it does sound fair for a Pro model, and if you've truly found a bass that talks to you you'll kick yourself down the road for passing up a decent deal.

PS - as you can tell, I love spending other people's money!;)

Ok so I'm getting it. Got the $500 right card for $440. I will pay the difference. This is a mech through, Korean made Spector Rex 4. Tomorrow (they won't let me do it today) I will bring the paperwork back and do the exchange/ repurchase for the $120 GC Cash with that I can get an $80 hard case and new strings. Bam should be almost new. Btw it does have a few small scratches on the back but otherwise lookin God. Pictures when it gets home and it's officially mine.

If I follow your post correctly you just got a sweet deal!
Sounds like you purchased a $500 gift card on a special discount for $440, then you'll use the $500 gift card and $100 cash to buy the $600 bass. When you buy the bass the store will give you a $120 in store credit that you'll use to buy a case and some strings. So at the end of the day you'll have a $600 bass and $120 in accessories equalling $720 worth of stuff for a grand total of only $540 cash out of pocket! That indeed is a very sweet deal on a Rex Pro!
You're gonna love it! Happy NBD to you!

Treb - that was pretty cool of you to give a fellow player that heads up on the gift card and helping him realize his dream! One more reason why this club is tops!
Don't look now, but your good karma is showing:thumbsup:
