End of february. Painting today before heading off to night classes in college. Then next wednesday i'll be wet sanding and semi gloss clear coating it, then letting it "dry" for 2 weeks. then another wet sand and polish and re-wiring, string up, and set up. Then playing until i get money for new gotoh tuners for it, and til i have the MK II bird i'll build later on. Can't wait, it's been months in pieces and now it's going somewhere :) pretty stoked to have this bird back in action.

Lol I made them get me a screw, he tried one screw-to small, the one I have he said was to tight, I'll make it work.

I HAD to change those strings. Still had the strings I took of the Epi so on the Spector they went:cool: she sounds better already. However the A string is short so new ones are getting picked up tomorrow. :)

I'd bet if you drop Spector a quick email they'd send some screws out to you. IIRC - the battery cover screw goes into a threaded insert. I'm missing one screw in mine but the one I do have is indeed too tight in one of the holes and just fits in the other. I decided to just keep it at one screw, its one less thing I need to remove to change the battery, besides the cover is recessed nicely into the body and stays put.

When you get a chance you should also jump on over to the Spector club here on TB. They are a very very active club, even more so than this one. And like this club, its full of great people that can hep you with every little detail of your bass and how to get the most out of it!

You going flats or rounds?
I have a set of boomers you can have. Tried them on my iceman but wanted a lighter gauge (has Ric strings on it now)

Bass is done with the satin black paint and it looks, well it looks like it's been right out of the factory. Few of the previous dings are still visible when you're up close and at certain angles of light. But other than that, i'm in love with it all over again, like the first time i picked it up and held it for 30 mins non stop playing. Still glad i made it my own, that's the beauty of being a musician, you can ake everything unique to you if others like awesome, if they don't well their loss :) next week comes some edge filling for thh red "binding" and then all of it is sealed under a nice 5 layer of semi-gloss clear. A nice self valentines day belated gift to moi :D i'm crazy stoked!!

As am i too having it! I've also just checked the truss rod because i thought it was stripped so i might've had to swap the rod nut out, but it still works as intended. I should probably get rid of some surrounding wood to have an easier access and more turning capabilities to it without being stuck within the slim hole.

Also, awesome thing about satin black: when applied, it's glossy as hell and like mirror. Once it sets, it's flat, no shine, dull. IMO, i think that's why when we play pitch black finished instruments and our sweat &/or cleaning products affect it overtime for it to go from satin to shine without loosing the dullness. It's not like: Oh it's shiny!! it's more like: yeah that's Bad4$$

Im looking for a cheap classic pro to strip, black out, and get all crazy with some emg-hz pups and a hipshot bridge and tuners. Got this idea about building the ultimate blackbird...thinking hydro or laser cut bird on a steel PG powdered black too :bassist:

What was he asking? There's a couple on ebay for around 300.
Or you can go to AMS, they'll break it up into 3 payments and ship it immediately.
That way you could just get a new one with a warranty and it wouldn't hit you that hard

He started at $340. I offered $275. He said the lowest he'd go was $330 and I said well, if it's still around in a few weeks/months I had $275 for him.

I went back to the ad yesterday and it was at $300 so I emailed him that I could do the $300. No response. Kind of bummed but I'll get over it.

I always on the look out for good deals on a couple different fronts. My motorcycle, my house/family, and now bass.

If/when I run across a screaming deal on some bird that is banged up I can see myself stripping it down. However I would go a different direction from Matte Black. I would probably go with something in here. Maybe a blue or a green or copper or maybe ever Terra Cotta. image.jpg

If ever you do, and decide to let the pickups go, let me know. hopefully i'll have the financial resources :D

Browsing last night over epiphone goth t-bird pics and i've realized the one thing that made me want to modify it to my personality: the finish. Although it's black, it was more dark grey with hint of black mixed in. In contrast with the pickups and hardware, but my satin black, well it just completes my whole room of black basses (with the exception of one white). And TBH, it looks more goth now than it did before. All black, not just accessorized with black things.
