I'd love to get a real Embassy. Pretty spendy for the real ones these days. I got the RI Chinese Embassy Pro a couple weeks ago. Made a clip on YouTube. Tried to like it, but just couldn't. The QC on this thing is comedy gold, but mostly, those 760 pickups are nowhere near the kinda TBird sound I'm looking for. Just made me want a nice TBird, so it's boxed up and headed back to Zzounds in the morning.
Ya, we haven't needed to use a chainsaw since I got those amps.
(we are still cutting some trees down in the backyard)
I guess I am setting myself up for success then, I swapped the stock strings on my Epi Classic Bird with D'Addario half rounds (45-100) and they seem to have a little LESS tension than the rounds it came with while being more comfortable to play and sounding fine through the ol' Bronco. Well, no less worse than I usually sound...

Well that's disappointing since I've been waiting to order the TBird with those vintage p'ups. Can you explain what it was you didn't like about them? Enquiring minds want to know?
This is what I was worried about and why I mentioned the possibility of needing to swap them to get a Vintage TBird that looks and sounds the part.

I like it in white. Way nicer looking than "Ebony", but Heritage Cherry is still the one. Well, after oiled wood.

There was nothing 'wrong' with the pickups...they just weren't what I was looking for, sound-wise. I bought the Embassy thinking for $400, if I love the bass, it'd be worth swapping pickups. But now it's an $800 bass and I just didn't like the Embassy enough to justify that. Hope that makes sense. In case you missed it (things move fast around here!), I did a quick clip. They might be the perfect pickups for what you're looking for.
