I'll definitely have to do a trade plus $.Set a price on it...
I had a hollowbody bass that had a neck made like a glu-lam beam. It was short scale, but the neck was a log to make Fix wonder about hand size. And, the finish was a lurid 3-color burst that can only be described as PornoBurst. It was a truly awesome machine, and it was as close to an upright sound as you could get with a bass guitar. But, I didn't play it, so it went. No need for extras for decoration. Now that you mention it I do have two sunburst basses...one is getting redone by JIO, so it won’t be burst for long anyway. Also have a weird burst pawnshop bass. I have an odd affection for how ‘off’ those old Japanese bursts can look![]()
FANTASTIC! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it.View attachment 2834457 Ordered my new bird from gibson via Sweetwater on the 21st. Got pics of it today, expect it to be here tomorrow. That's fast! I'll have enough time to do my usual mods and use it for our last home town show this year on Saturday.
Btw my usual mods are; (unless they changed how they did them in '13) make the pots go the right way. They wire em righty. Add a kill switch, put my strings on (roto66 50-110 for D tuning) and possibly wrap the PG in black leather. Oah, put on strap locks too.
My 13 didn't need any adjustments for neck/saddles when I swapped strings. I tune down a step but the heavier strings usually balance it out and I don't have to do anything.
...well, technically it is in mint condition after redefining the lower horn, cutting a new pg, de-fretting the neck and finishing it with silver sparkle.- just not "original" condition

Rare 1980's Gibson 4 string bass | eBay
If it has the same studs as the three point, I'm happy to trade the three point from my '01 and some cash for your Babicz. Being without the '01 while I wait for the mail to go in both directions might be a little tough, but what the heck. Modifying it is tempting fate anyway. I can't believe the Babicz is handed. Three point saddles swap back and forth by accident if you aren't paying attention.I'll definitely have to do a trade plus $.
Take a look at the back of the bass. Looks like the paint isn’t sticking.
The full contact thing is BS, in my opinion. My enthusiasm for Babicz bridges is all about looks and adjustment. I like the way the adjustments work, and being a geek, I like to adjust things. There's always some minor fraction of a step of intonation I can mess with somewhere until I figure out it's pointless. Until the next round of messing with another minor fraction of a step somewhere. They hype the whole "full contact" thing, total crap. My Gibson out sustains ALL my basses with it's "crappy" 3 point and I've never had any adjustment problem on 3 different basses.

Hope so man, will be a cool one, and a new bass to work into the setHoping to catch your show Saturday, but not sure if it’s gonna happen yet.
Yup, I'm sure it's neither lefty or righty. But yeah, maybe we can do that.If it has the same studs as the three point, I'm happy to trade the three point from my '01 and some cash for your Babicz. If the parts stay in the family, it's better somehow. It means the karma from the pixie dust '01 will go to your new one, and whatever karma there is from your new one will spread to the '01. It's all mystical and sheeyit.Yup, I'm sure it's neither lefty or righty. But yeah, maybe we can do that.
Haha I like that. Well, it'll be on stage sat for one wild ride and might get some JD on it, I'll try not to but it gets crazy. If the parts stay in the family, it's better somehow. One white on white, one black ABG, one black Goth and one tobacco burst old Japanese bass. Now that you mention it I do have two sunburst basses...one is getting redone by JIO, so it won’t be burst for long anyway. Excellent. Is there any benefit to the leather PG ? Apart from looks that is?View attachment 2834457 Ordered my new bird from gibson via Sweetwater on the 21st. @TBird1958 -- are you still with us Roni, or have you attained Thunderbird nirvana in a cloud of bliss?
Now now... the Queen wishes to be alone with her new subject! You must wait outside the gate with the rest of us. (we're hoping to get a glimpse of them from across the courtyard) ...I was waiting for a review too! I’m kinda more interested in the VP’s than the Gibson that is (slowly) headed my way![]()
