I'm one of those that also feels there's a difference between the 2 and 3band eq's.

Over here, it's a somewhat abrasive reference to a woman's "hoohoo"...
Now you see, thats what a fanny is!

You are correct Sir. The 3 band has one more band than the 2 band
To my ears at least, the 2 band sounds fuller, like the older Stingers, the 3band sounds more modern if that makes any sense. I didn't like having a mid control, kinda like having a tone control, no use for it.
I KNEW IT!!! South of the equator... everything's backwards! Up here, the "fanny" is a less abrasive and more socially acceptable reference to a females backside (or "backsoide" for you Aussies)

You may find a Ray really likes some nice warm sounding compression, ie optical or valve compression. Options include the MB Compressore, EHX Black Finger, Diamond BCP-1 (with bonus tilt EQ), FEA OptiFet etc.

Or you may find the strings need to be removed and placed on a bass that doesn't require such nonsense to make an acceptable noise.
EDIT: Yes I own a StingRay, an elderly one with obsolete alnico pickup and 2 band EQ. Am I allowed to comment or do I have to own the exact model...and why would I do that?
