I believe the bass in the background is one if Mark's green basses...

My bet is on Seafoam Green... :)

still love the DRs drop tuned at home practicing. They're killing me at practice with the band though. Playing mellow is fine, but dig in hard to push the amp into overdrive and these stiff dead slippery bastards are gonna give me one popeye arm. Even dropped to d standard!

I'm probably gonna try the chromes or labellas see how they do.
Probably be easier to go back to sunbeams.

What strings you guys using?

D'addario Xl 50-110 gauge. Perfect for low end D standard tuning.

Speaking of my bird, She's wired up. I'm just waiting on the contact cement in the back bridge posts to set for 48 hours (just to be really safe), put tension in the strings, (& stretch them out they haven't been on the bass in montsh so making sure they stay new and fresh), set Purdy up and i'm ready to play all day everyday :D

It's probably Seafoam Green, I still need one in Inverness Green and Pelham Blue - It'd be nice if Epi did them on the Classic with some chrome hardware.

I've been using the Nikki Sixx set 50-70-90-110 for D tuning. They are fairly bright, they have nice tension, pretty high actually even down a step and they last a long time. I do prefer my rotos though which I just switched back to. Good strings

I figured you'd be the one to have tried them since Nikki Sixx has a set. Being a finger player I'm not a fan of high tension strings. I like to be able to dig in which I can with the DR's. The stock strings on the classic pro have more tension that the Fat Beams but the are so much smoother to the touch.

So did you ever find out which strings came on the Classic Pro-IV?

Mine came with SS strings with red silk endings and looked a lot like RotoSound Swing Bass strings, but weren't as rough to the touch as the Roto's....

It could very well be the heavy gauge, crue has always been down a whole step, this heavy gauge gives a similar tension you would have in standard tuning with most strings. I definitely wouldn't use this set. I much prefer blue steel or rotos in Eb with a 50-70 for the top 2. BTW. I'm 90% pick player

Hmmm...

I think I was mistaking the strings that came on my Classic Pro for the ones that came on the regular Epi birds, which most certainly have the red silk wrappings.

I still happen to have a set of strings with no silk wrappings, which I may have removed from my Classic Pro when I received it - I have no recollection of the feel of the original strings, as I changed them for DR Black Beauties on the day of receiving the bass.

I have had that pedal for a couple weeks now. I use it to punch the basslines during guitar solos. Little bit of boost and a touch of overdrive. I dig it. My big beef with most bass fuzz is that its just fuzz on top of the fundamental and distortion often robs the low frequencies. There's no such thing as a rich distortion for bass as there is for guitar...yet. The BSF gives it a bit of dirt but allows you to mix in how much original signal there is in the tone.
