But...it’s winter time!

Here’s my winter ride. Most MTB’ers here in Michigan have gone fat tire, 4” wide, on their winter rides but I just converted a cheapy hardtail to single speed and hydraulic disc brakes for winter service with carbide studded tires. It works well enough on hard pack and ice. I don’t like riding through fresh snow anyway, too much work for this aging fellow.

Is this the pickup?

Probably. Logically if it's as 'true vintage' as they say, it would be in their AVRI. They're under $100 US street price delivered here. How many kangaroos is that? $80 on ebay

Aging??? I thought you said you were gonna cut that crap out after yer last birthday;)

I recommend a Fender AVRI 63 pup if they're selling them w/o the entire bass. Not sure if it's the same as the Pure Vintage '63

I have a buddy who’s got a 63AVRI P Bass. Might be the best sounding P I’ve ever played.

AVRI 63 is your favourite P iirc, yes?
Might be mine too. Again, I don’t think it’s just the pickup on that Gamma

Thanks. Don't think I will be keeping up to date on this thread though. 400+ messages since I posted? Dayum! Does the group move even faster now? Growing fast?
It's been a bit slower past couple days.
Past couple weeks it was over 300 posts a day! It was hard to keep up even when you're there, so I don't blame you.

Cheap pots on the Gamma? How's the neck and hardware?

Everything seems fine otherwise. I got it used, so who knows? The pickup that came with it was an EMG HZ. Not horrible, but lacking lows and a bit bright. Nordy is the same, but better. My Electronics guy was over this morning to wire a couple cabs. It was just a mountain of sloppy solder under the hood

The Gibson USA humbuckers in my classic pro are sounding even better with well broken in SIT power steels (cleaned periodically, DNA soak) now that I have adopted a "use backline 410 if it is there" policy rather than take the 112 out of the car (part of rumble 200/15 combo+112 stack). That 100w at the ext jack pushes a 410 quite well and the 15 barks quite well raised up high. We have one in the practice space (old yorkville), and if I need to provide my own I have 2 swrs in storage.
