Thunderbird Club

What truly boggles my mind is that there were seven ebony Thunderbirds made in 1979, and six of them are as pristine as they are. The seventh may be completely thrashed, but I'm sure you will find it. Which is another mind boggler. I can think of far worse obsessions.

@KingFace and @dukeorock have the same magical Bird powers.

Quick question; I could got to GP but I feel safer, here, with the rest of the outcasts.
Is there anything stopping someone from running one of those new QSC cardioid subs as an amp? It's not much heavier than most bass amps. Less than an 8x10. I need a second rig.

Frequency response is 44hz-148hz. Strictly a subwoofer cab for PA. Would sound like mud on its own, I’m afraid

Nice song, great playing and tone as well. You and Thunderbirds like each other quite a lot!

Seems so :)

Sounds great, Mark. That's an original? Something about it reminds me of Life During Wartime from Talking Heads.

It’s an original from Derek’s new record, “Bring The Flood.” I can see what you’re saying about Talking Heads. Derek’s early records are more like a Lyle Lovett style. Swingy, jazzy country stuff. New record has a lot of soul, blues and Motown influences

I'll try and post some close-ups, asthey range from pretty close to mint (one even has the plastic covering over the back plate), to definitely road-worn (the back of another shows a LOT of wood). What's more striking is that none had a neck repair! And the neck radiuses (radii?) varied from incredibly thin, to fairly chunky (especially, up around the 12th fret). And they all weigh about the same.

Would love to see more pictures of each of them! Beauties!

They are a sight indeed. When they were first posted up here, we were in a bit of shock, (well, me mainly), to learn about his quest in/for finding all of them.
He's one away.

That is insane! In a good way, of course :)

Sorry. My bad. I misread the specs and thought it said 148k hertz.

I can see it now. A new Quentin Tarantino movie, The Seven 79's. It's going to be a psychic thriller. The Birds have magical powers the likes that no inanimate wood and wire have.

The only thing that i can tell you is that the 6 Birds are vibing out the 7th's whereabouts.........................It's very involved.

I'd have taken this in a different direction.

Ya' see, @KingFace has heard tales of the power that these 7 TBirds have when reunited and how that power will transfer to the man that can put the 7 back together.

This pursuit take him to all corners of the Globe and the movie shows the success and struggle to realize his dream.

I like that, but, he needs the Birds help, the 7th is in the hands of an evil lawyer.

Oooh...I like this.

My pal, Brian, who plays guitar for Bad Religion, and who has been instrumental in keeping me on this quest in spite of myself (back when I only had two, he (and his bass player, Jay) chided me weekly with, "Dude, you realize you HAVE to get all 7 now!"). He suggested a documentary. You know, traveling around the globe, looking for the seventh...hoping there's not more....discovering there's more...falling into deep depression, with lots of shots of me at bars with a glass of scotch, and a thousand-yard stare on my face, mumbling, "Why?....Why did I ever think this was a good idea?"

‘Evil lawyer.’ Isn’t that redundant?

Maybe the evil lawyer plans on sending the ‘Bird off to an evil luthier who wants to make it a headless 5er with a buckeye burl top. It MUST be intercepted in transit!

Nobody who qualifies as mainstream sane is allowed in here anyway.

So far so good :)

Ooh, that has some Black Mirror overtones. Every time you find ‘the last one,’ another materializes as if by black magic

Ah, you're getting closer.
