Thunderbird Club

Those pix are five years old, it's aged a bit...haven't we all?
...
Mentally? No.
I'd even bet that the mental aging process has been corrupt and reversed for some people since being in this club!

...
Changing the GC world, one bass at a time!
It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it!

Public Service Announcement #2

So I sent a couple emails to Guitar Center Customer Service and Store Feedback about that '1976 Thunderbird Korina'. I exchanged a few emails with each department.
Today I received a phone call from a NYC area code, but didn't answer because it was long distance and an unknown caller. I just finished listening to the voicemail..... it was the manager at the store with that bass, saying that (Paraphrasing) "You are absolutely correct about that, and we are going to change it. Thank you for bringing it to our attention"
They actually admitted that they were wrong, and they are going to change it!!

End of PSA #2
:wideyed: You are the Great and Powerful Oz :wideyed:

The lever is as kichy-cool as the rest of the bass! the blend knob is as it should have been IMO:cool::thumbsup:
I bypassed the switch and added two more pots on my first Phantom (made in Italy for Vox) in '74. Also drilled a lot of holes in it and pounded lead sinkers in them in an unsuccessful attempt to cure neck dive. The black one I own now is an original UK one, baseball bat first generation Precision 1-3/4" neck and perfectly balanced. It and my clone each weigh 7.7 lbs. Mahogany body on the original, soft maple on the clone.

Lead sinkers??? Has that worked before?

It's amazing to me that the 2 Phantoms ended up the exact same weight!

Just for MY sanity (and OCD), these are the actual names...

'Top Hat' is something Splash wears...

Thak you... That's what I keep calling them: Reflector Knobs...

If only EBay sellers were more specific in their postings, it would be SO much easier to find the right stuff online...

That "Evil Lawyer" is a great dude (I assume you are just joking about him being evil) and is indeed a lawyer. He has sent me tracings of Gibson bodies, truss rod tools, strings, and several other things and never asked for anything in return. I think he pays for most of the cost to run the Last Bass Outpost as well. But.....if he has that last 79 Bird it may be extremely difficult to pry it from his hands.

Thta's exactly why I wrote, that hopefully it's NOT part of "Ze Collection"... :)

I would love to get my hands on his Gibson Gothic Thunderbird, though...
