Most seller's are knobs anyway, and have no idea what they are selling...![]()

Way faster than I expected!
Just read through that thread. Fun to watch the process and you did an amazing job!
That "Evil Lawyer" is a great dude (I assume you are just joking about him being evil) and is indeed a lawyer. He has sent me tracings of Gibson bodies, truss rod tools, strings, and several other things and never asked for anything in return. I think he pays for most of the cost to run the Last Bass Outpost as well. But.....if he has that last 79 Bird it may be extremely difficult to pry it from his hands.
Why do you qualify lawyer as evil? Do you work in the department of redundancy department?
I meant I'll intention at all.
Thanks Kat. One of the reasons I liked bass was the simplicity. A bass. A cable. An amp. Now I've got four pedals, numerous different sized cabs and I fear my latest audition won't approve of the Bird for aesthetic reasons. Going for a psychedelic vibe. But, yes, I've been using the SCR-DI or the Sansamp, which I use with a Mini-Mega that I just plug into the amp section through the return on the effects loop bypassing the preamp. I'm hoping to purchase a rack mount power amp soon. I borrowed an old Mackie for awhile and was amazed at the difference in clarity from the Peavey. Plus I had a 31 band eq with it. That on top of my 8x10 was awesome sauce. If you are going to run direct to a power amp or powered speaker, you need either a preamp capable of driving a power amp (line level output), or the power amp needs to have switchable input sensitivity.

As far as the Bird goes, I had auditioned for these guys in the past and at first the BL asked if I'd play a Jazz they had on site. At the time I convinced him my Precision was just as capable. He then went on to explain they want an "analog" look. Band is originals in the vein of early Zeppelin, Cream so they're going for the look too. Maybe a VP in sunburst? Oh wifey's not gonna like that! Actually she'll be thrilled. She thought I was a fool when I turned it down first time around. Now, not to get too jacked up, just in case it falls through but it's been a long winter already, with no band and with the approaching summer season I wasn't having much luck finding another one.Slippery slope, ain’t it
The Mini Mega has a nice power section, but some amps sound better than others when you come in through the effects loop. Most sound kinda awful. The flexibility of a nice power amp is often really nice. Can run multiple pres and always have great, clean headroom.
Don’t see why you can’t do Psych on a T Bird. I do country gigs on mine! Actually, I do everything with one of mine these days. Part of my wanting to get a Cataldo NR is for when the aesthetic of a classic reverse style might seem a bit much for the gig though. Plus it’s just cool.
Insomnia led to watching way too many pedal videos last night, so I feel your pain there too. Just have two dirt boxes on the board at the moment, but should be getting my new delay pedal today and an EHX Cock Fight any day as well :/

I don't like the preamp. If you start running preamp pedals through there it seems like the gain stacks up and for me, it would be dark and thick, too dark and too thick. Sometimes I'll just run the pedals through the effects loop but plug into the preamp just to keep the Peavey's parametric eq in the loop. Due to budget constraints I'm forced to find ways to make it work rather than replacing it at this time.I used a Mini Mega for a half a gig and sold it. Fortunately, they were brand new and a hot ticket item at the time, so it sold quickly. Just couldn’t relate to that amp. Mesa D800 is still my favorite small, class D amp so far

The P-Bird got a workout last night. It sat in the mix more politely than a T-Bird. Thunderbirds bash their way through the mix when the mix gets in the way. To my ear, it sounded just like a Precision, which was the whole point, but I missed the authority and insistence of buckers. I'll probably play it off and on, but it sure isn't the same as a Thunderbird. I'm spoiled. It's not fully set up yet, either. I probably have the pickup set too low. Once that's adjusted better, I might have a different opinion. The pickup sounds fine, though. Just thin relative to Thunderbird pickups.
