I will be interested to know what that sounds like. As you probably know, I happen to really like Model One pickups.

These are all 85mm from fretboard end to edge of pickup.
IMO the proper way to measure (ask Vince) is from a fret center to the centerline of the pickup. That measurement is 275 mm from the 12th fret (10-3/4")...same as all these.
20, 21, and 22 frets are obviously going to have fretboards that end at different places.

All good points! And beautiful basses. Every time I see those two white Gibson's, I have to clean the drool off my laptop.
Even if the fretboards have the same amount of frets, the the shape of the heel can be different, skewing the measurements.
Measuring from the centreline is the proper way of measuring just about everything in manufacturing. If you measure from the centreline, it does not matter the size of what the hole/object/pickup, it will always be in the same spot. If you measure the distance to the edge of a TBird pup, then put a Jazz pup in at the same distance measuring from edges, it would move the 'focal point' (lack of a better term) of the pickup.

Will playing through Fender amps destroy my Tbird mojo? Will I be banned? I'm auditioning this Thursday for some guys doing originals in the vein of early Zeppelin/Cream and a big part of their shtick is keeping with the vintage vibe so lucky for me I'll need a VP in sunburst and I'm really looking at the Fender Bassman 800 cause it's light, loud, great features and looks the part. Cabs? I'll fabricate some vintage grilles for my Hydrives.

No. But be careful of the amp. It might have a problem handling the full Thunderbird sound without a medical emergency. It's used to that watered down sound that you won't be sending it.
Love the stripes.. been thinking about putting some on my AW.
I'd like to go with the whole " muscle car/ Americana" kind of thing. Some fretboard decals, I think I saw some that were crossed flags and somewhere I saw a black n white checkerboard pick guard, with a big Thrush muffler woodpecker on the back. But if Thursday goes well I'm hoping this one gets some rest and the VP will be doing double duty.
