why they stop making the Gibson? Ive always wanted to own one.

I still haven't had a smoke since I found a melanoma on the back of my head last year. Must be 9 months or more now.
The doctors reckon my skin graft's success was helped a lot by giving up the smokes. I know my bank balance is healthier.
I don't want to contemplate what it would have been like if the graft had failed.
They took a 3 inch circle of scalp off the back of my head and went in over half an inch deep- so the graft is a considerable size. Big, clear margins are really important, I believe.
Funny thing (yeah...ha...fning ha....) is I had long hair for over forty years- so the area where it grew wouldn't have been sunburnt since I was a child.
Anyway, I was damn lucky I found it by touch and insisted that it be biopsied. It was a largely unpigmented one and the specialist dismissed it initially.

One thing with smoking I didn't realise is how long the irritation of your throat can take to go fully away. I did smoke for decades, though.

I have a friend who is an oncologist (cancer doctor) at a tertiary care hospital (where really good hospitals send the difficult cases they can't solve). We were discussing melanomas (his area of expertise) and his comment was "Yeah 90% of my job is telling people that they are going to die".

Melanoma has a great 5 year survival if found early. But if you don't do anything until it metastasizes, you will die a horrible agonizing death. Better to have that big hole in your head.

Love Wolfmother. I remember the day I bought that album, same day I bought my #1 bass, the '62 Precision, must have been the first week of summer break after 8th grade, I'd been saving for a year. Spent the next few days learning that album inside and out, still can play it (nearly) all the way through. Saw them a few years back at the Neptune in Seattle, stellar venue and they absolutely crushed it. Electric Citizen opened, also played fantastically.

These are the guys I've been listening to a lot of lately. Trio of Drums, Guitar and Hammond, they're phenomenal.

I finally listened to it with headphones. I like 'em both, but the Thunderbucker is outstanding. It has a crispness the Gibson pickup doesn't have, even a 2002 which is close enough to the 2001 that it's got to be close to the same. I'm impressed. Again.

What a great track! Early Blondie was so great. Clem Burke has to be one of the most underrated drummers in the world. And Debbie Harry gave me strange tingly feelings as a young man

It’s a great sounding pickup for sure. One of my Gibson’s will remain stock. One is getting chromed. Ordered the bridge and tuners...just gotta decide on pickups. Would really love to hear two ‘63’s in series

Me too! The next year I saw what was considered their last show ever, at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. They had technically already broken up, but did that last show. Not sure if Clem was with them. Great show, though it was in July during a heat wave and the AC was broken, so it was over 100°F in there. They had a thermometer on stage.

Are those 60's Gibson pickups on that pic? I ask because of the screws on the covers and because I have an opportunity to buy a set that look just like that.

even the japanese article says only "the pickups swapped to chrome"
so i doubt it's real vintage, no seller in right mind would miss the advertise opportunity
