Just got back from the post office! I unpacked the bass there because the box looked as if it had been through a war...large holes and plenty of dents, but thanks to generous amounts of bubble wrap, all is well!

It’s a really nice bass and very different from my Gibson’s, which I was hoping would be the case. The Thunderbucker Ranch ‘63 is a very nice sounding pickup! Very punchy and clear. Much brighter than my Gibson’s. Like, a lot brighter. Carlo did a perfect setup. The neck is a bit wider than my ‘Birds. It’s closer to all my other basses. That’s neither here nor there as I’m not super fussy about nut width. The neck feels really good and looks nice. Cool dot markers! The matching headstock is a nice touch. I’ll play it more throughout the day and maybe make a video clip, but first impressions are very glowing. Thanks Carlo!

Nothing like a Cataldo! Congratulations! I proudly own two and certainly want another, I have been a bit fiscally challenged of late but I do have another build in mind.

You're welcome, Mark! Glad it came through in one piece. You found the '66N taped to the bubble wrap? It will be a little darker. Would have sent a 66B, darker still, but the lead wire was too short. Neck is a modern P 1-5/8" nut width. I call the side markers either BigDotz or Geezer Dots, take your pick. Those particular ones were a little 'experimental' but I use similar on all Cataldos.

That's a three year old set of Ken Smith Bass Burners BTW. Look forward to your full review!

On the Amp front. I really needed a powerful light back up amp to travel with. I really like my sons Fender 200 Rumble combo, I have even gigged it so I decided to get the Rumble 500 head, great tone, the Vintage button really makes it come alive. 500w and

it fits in my cable case!

Surprisingly well! More versatile than the Terror, loads more top end available, it does a very convincing Entwistle. The Vintage button is magic how ever it works I am impressed. Love the control layout. Simple and effective, no clipping light and that makes me happy, never did understand that on modern SS amps, all my Vintage SS stuff I can crank the crap out of. I bought local for a lot less than map.
