Thunderbird Club

So your 3/4 there. Billy Sheehan was using 415s with Roth, better catch up!

He still does use four 115’s. As much as I’d love to put in a ton of work on a cab virtually no one will buy...

Right now in boutique world, most folks want tiny cabs they can practically fit in a gig bag :)

It's certainly happened, for me, it would be preferable to a lot of the post show offers I get. I.E. "you're sure cute, coulda used you in the penitentiary".
LOL - the best line I was ever hit with happened years ago. Between sets a very attractive young (questionably under age) girl that had a few too many drinks approached the stage. She looked at my bass and the guitarists guitar and said to me, "Your guitar is a lot bigger than his, is everything else?" I pointed back to my SVT and 810 rig and said "of course". My band mates and I burst out laughing and she just kinda stood there with a what-just-happened look on her face. I had the bouncer escort her to the door and offer her a cab home. Always remember the golden rule - 17 will getcha 20! ;)

Well, I rejoined the club as of Tuesday. This new ebony Vintage Pro arrived at my door. It's beyond beautiful. So far I like it more than the Epiphone IV and Epiphone non-reverse I used to own, and maybe even a little more than the Epiphone Elitist i had. The new Probucker pickups sound fantastic. When it arrived I instantly plugged it into my customized 1x12 Marshall Lead 12 guitar amp, played some Cheap Trick basslines on it, and...nailed it. I hope the case arrives soon so I can take it out of the house and not worry about accidentally dropping or otherwise damaging it.

What is happening here is UPS, FedEx, and Amazon have gotten sweetheart deals with the P.O. so their volume is way up. Stuff sent actual USPS gets pushed to the back of the line.

I did a pickup trade with a guy in Italy a few years ago. Pickup I sent cost $15 USPS Priority Mail. The Italian used the privatized Italian P.O. to send me his Model 1, it cost him 50 Euro. His ItalPost stamped package arrived inside a FedEX box. They just walked it across the street.

IMO we're in the middle of experiencing something similar with the same outcome. I can send a cased bass to the EU or Far East for $125 Priority Mail. Cheapest UPS/Fedex is around $400.

Yeah, let's privatize the P.O. We've taken the first step: Provide crappy service to core customers with the help of shady deals given UPS, Fedex, and Amazon.

Hmmmm... have to wonder how Bezos got such a sweetheart deal? Just kidding, I'm pretty sure I know.

:jawdrop: HOLY CRAP!!! 25 American dollars for a pack of smoxe in Oz??? :wideyed:

I remember sayin', "WHAT??? 2 bux a pack?!?!? That's OUTRAGEOUS!!! That's it... I'm quitting!". Of course nobody I knew at the time actually quit (had to wait until they got up to 5 bux a pack before I actually saw anybody quit because of price... but we were plenty miffed I tell ya! Plenty!

I quit at $2 a pack. It was 17 years ago.

The physical violence in Catholic grade school provided by sex starved Irish nuns was quite enough!

Thankfully things have calmed down quite a bit since then but I'm sure it was unnerving for the Irish nuns and their Irish cop brothers to have all these swarthy Italians moving into their neighborhoods... then kids do what they do and hey we're all related now! :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

gorgeous!! Congratulations.

Was told to come back to the post office after 3:30...just did, Bass ain’t here!!! They close in 35 minutes. Guess I’m waiting

I recently received a registered letter (signature required). I didn't know about it until the 3rd (and final) fail to deliver notice showed up in my mail box telling me it would be returned to sender the following day. No previous fail to deliver notices, no attempt to ring the door bell or knock. Then, after presenting myself at the post office to get the letter, my computer generated receipt included a link to a random customer service survey.

Guess how many ratings above 0 they got. Guess how many of the allowed 1000 words of free form comments were used.
no ratings above 0. I only used about half of the allowed words but made it abundantly clear that the law firm will receive instructions to only use couriers as registered mail is obviously unreliable. I also did NOT use any expletives as that might cause the comments to be ignored.

I'm sure the postal employees don't care. They have unionized government jobs. They just have to show up for more than 50% of their shifts for 20 years to get their gold-plated government pensions.
