Even through dinky ipad speakers I could hear the difference.
That Cataldo sounds like it could cut like a laser through butter. Plus, I've always been a single pickup guy. And there's nothing like rounds on frets.

I agree! Yeah, the Cataldo cuts through nice. The TB’ 63 is a very clear sounding pickup. I’ve heard @kat888 ’s NR41 with the same strings as mine, but with the TB ‘66 pickup and it sounds really great too.

Thanks! Hopefully it’s a nice a/b between the stock Gibson pickups and the TB. I love both for what they are, but they are very different. And really, I hope it gives some indication of how good Carlo is at making basses. First rate instrument, I think

Probably the same EQ, too. I'm happy you used your '02. My '01 is the gold standard in my flock, and I expect your '02 is similar enough that the comparison with Thunderbuckers will be accurate enough. I'm still debating what kinds of things to do with the '91, including putting Thunderbuckers in it. And refinish, of course, because enough burst is enough burst.

Kat's NR has a 66S, the replacement for the MAX. It's the hottest ThunderBucker currently available.

Are those 60's Gibson pickups on that pic? I ask because of the screws on the covers and because I have an opportunity to buy a set that look just like that.

Surprisingly well! More versatile than the Terror, loads more top end available, it does a very convincing Entwistle. The Vintage button is magic how ever it works I am impressed. Love the control layout. Simple and effective, no clipping light and that makes me happy, never did understand that on modern SS amps, all my Vintage SS stuff I can crank the crap out of. I bought local for a lot less than map.

My GK400B had a clipping light. I disconnected it...

I was looking for the highest available output, so I went for the 66S. It was so impressive I ordered another for my Epi. The next one will be a 63N.

I was looking for the highest available output, so I went for the 66S. It was so impressive I ordered another for my Epi. The next one will be a 63N.

I'm leaning toward a 66 set for the '91, but I'm still not 100% sure. A 63 set might be good, too. I can't alter the pickups in the '01. And the '15 is its own thing. Sounds like a case of N+1.
