Thunderbird Club

Hey all! It's been a long time. I'm down to one T-Bird (still in the club!) and a P bass. Had to shuffle a few things around. Still playing and finally have a show with my band coming up on Feb. 10.

How are you all?

Hi Geoff!

Long time indeed, great to hear from you, hope all is well up there in Vancouver (Canada's Hollywood!) Pics from the show, and welcome back brother!

Did a quick clip of the Cataldo NR41 if anyone is interested. A/B’d it with my ‘02 Gibson to hear the difference of the stock Gibson pickups vs the Thunderbucker Ranch ‘63

Nice vid and and even nicer bass!

This is a good example of why I replaced my 2014 Gibson TB pickups with a set of Lollar T-Bird pickups. They may not be exactly the same as the Thunderbucker pickups but I was looking for what I would call "aggressive clarity" which, to my ear, the Gibson's lack. The Gibson stock pickup reminds me of Bartolini replacement pickup I once put into a Ric 4001.

Good on you for having the fortitude to give it up. I'm still in and out of it.

Not sure about fortitude. I had some significant motivation. I knew enough to know I was going to need a big skin graft and what a mess it would be if that failed.
It also gave me something positive to focus on at a time when things were looking quite negative.

We're getting closer to the Spector gang...........

I’ve been doing my part!

We owe it our Queen, Dignity, Respect and Class.

Wow, that’s so cool!

I always wanted to be one of the classy broads.............

Where the HE double hockeysticks did you find that?

Google is a wonderful thing!

You are!!

Was surfing the webz last night. Googled your name. I love the shot.

...and now it’s part of his spank bank.

Hi, Geoff! (sp?)

Hope all is well and welcome back? :)

If you gotta have a J, that's a pretty good one to have. Shame about the salami, though.
I dunno... I could go for a nice pickguard on rye about now...

I'm leaning toward a 66 set for the '91, but I'm still not 100% sure. A 63 set might be good, too. I can't alter the pickups in the '01. And the '15 is its own thing. Sounds like a case of N+1.

Sounds like it! This is just a hunch, but I have a feeling Two ‘63’s with a push/pull for series/parallel could sound really good

We will crush our enemies, see them driven before us, and hear the lamentations of their J basses!

Seems a tad extreme. We could just quietly and politely passed em up, shake hands as we go by, compliment their shoes or something nice?

See, I quite like the stock pickups in my ‘14 for what they are. Would love to hear the Lollars more. Not a lot of clips to be found. My Cataldo will have either the TB ‘63 or ‘66. Really impressed so far with those

I think @Korladis has that setup.

You still have a lot to learn here.
