Jeff... yer dancin' on glass here man! If you're not careful, he'll talk you into an apartment full of the nicest bass gear in New York City... (which doesn't sound all that bad until you realize you're missing an eyeball & a kidney, and pushin' yourself around New York on a fvckin' skate board!):woot::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:
SHHHHHH he still hasn't noticed the missing kidney!

Sh!t!!!, i ain't afraid of him.

Thanks man! If you ever get the chance to plug one in... I'll urge you to treat yourself!

TV Jones is a pickup manufacturer. I know he makes pups for Gretsch, but I'm uncertain if he made these particular ones. These are called Filter Trons, and to my knowledge, only have the Gretsch name on 'em. I'm really curious if he made them or not. They are absolutely spectacular!!!
Ended up with an Epi Viola that works well as my upright back up.
Also: Filter Trons would make an excellent band name.
I can't get the image of light cycles out of my mind.

Some of you may remember that I'd received a Music Man StingRay for Christmas, and that I had some issues with it. Well... I'd sent it back, where (much like with car problems) it didn't exhibit the issues I'd experienced. It was set back up to within the shop's specifications, and shipped back to me. Upon re-arrival, I opened the case & found a bass with a back bow that caused every string to buzz like an electric razor on every fret. In my frustration and disappointment... I decided it was cursed, and sent it back to the store, uncertain of what was going to happen next. While in transit, something showed up on the store's website that filled a desire I'd carried with me for years. Back when I was playing guitar... I'd always loved a big orange Gretsch hollowbody electric, but the stars just never aligned.

The neck specs don't line up with what I always look for. I'd never touched a short scaled bass, don't like floating bridges, and to my knowledge, have never heard a Filter Tron pickup in my life... but I needed to do something to conclude this transaction, and a refund was not an option. Dollars and sense, plus my affinity for Gretsch, put this G6119BO "Broadkaster" as the best available option. I am giddy to be able to announce that I am beyond thrilled with this thang!!! It is absolutely SPECTACULAR!!! I could fill pages with commentary about the tones it produces! Absolutely incredible!!! I don't know if it's due to the shorter scale, or the way it hangs, or a combination of elements... but even with a less than tree trunk neck... I can (and have) played this thing for hours without the usual hand and wrist issues that make me stop after only 2 or 3 minutes. The action is effortless!!! @GBassNorth being a short scale guy... I must urge you to do yourself a big favor & check one of these out!

Congratulations Fix - what a gorgeous Gretsch. Glad it works for you.

Gretsch... the G is for Gorgeous :)

Not at all. I have seen it everywhere.

I just sold my Spector Legend 4X. I upgraded the electronics with real EMG's and the SNCHaz pre. Sounded fantastic, played fantastic, neck was comfy (kind of Jbass/Tbird profile). The new owner raves about it. I found the body a bit on the thick side, but it was not heavy. Great bass but sold it to pay for my Epi Vintage Pro. Would I buy another Spector 4X? Sure would but would rather have a USA model, despite the $$.

A guy in my Thunderbird group on Facebook used these to replace the stock pickups in his 1976 and says he loves them. I cannot give an opinion as I have never heard them. If they are anythig like what is in my Vintage Pro, I would like them.

Funny it was my post with the sticker on the bass that caused the upset on the FB page! Sorry again!

Totally agree with this. My only concern is that the bridge pickup is a bit microphonic if I tap it with a pick. Seems fine when I am playing tho. Hopefully that does not change. I LOVE that bass!!!

AWESOME! Enjoy it and it has the added bonus of being lighter, which is good for your back!
