What a nice thing to do! I just got back from GC trying to trade in a guitar. I paid $110 for a nice gator case, but in their bizzaro pricing system, it only counts for $.01 toward the trade. Bah!

Speaking of horn players, the trumpet player is my (rotten) kid. Yeah, I'm boasting. So, sue me.
They seem to have a fair amount of work around LA. I'm not sure when or how they saw him play. He was playing with another funk band called Orgone off and on for the last couple years, so maybe at one of their shows. He's the second call trumpet for that band. He's been building his career as a trumpet player for about five years now, and it seems like he's hitting some kind of critical mass. Driving his car as an Uber will probably pay his rent for a while longer, unfortunately, but he's on the path to being dukeotrumpet. I hope he makes it. We told him that success or failure wasn't defined by whether he made lots of money, whether he made it big, or anything like that. It was defined by whether he really went for it and did what he needed to do to make it happen. It took a while, but he seems to get it completely now, and you see the results. All those guys are the same that way.Damn, those guys are really good!
I should know this by now....Never ask Kat a question unless you are prepared for the answer.

If you're so harsh on strings, do you wipe them down after each use?Strings last longer. It's tough being an alien in a human body.
The great thing about a Thunderbird is that you can tilt it up or down, wherever you want it. They don't stick you in the gizzard when you rotate the neck up like a more conventionally shaped bass guitar. Getting a brand new bass and case for the price of just the bass isn't too bad a deal. I read you NBD thread, and it sounds like you got a really good one.View attachment 2935700 View attachment 2935701
I bought this week old TBird from my brother. He didn’t give me a sibling discount but he did buy me a hard case which arrived today. The bass is real big so I have to wear it tilted higher to the left so I can reach the low notes.

Dammit!! One of these days I'll figure it out...
I'm the rotten old goat.
For whom? Me? Nah... I'll figure it out one of these days...That’s gotta hurt
