Thunderbird Club

The amp looks sad

It's in good company. My board looks lonely.

I was waiting for that. It's this that'll be coming. An HT322.

As soon as you said 210's and a 12 I figured a 322. I have one of these. My main rig these days. It rocks better than anything else it's physical size. The only complaint I have is that even with castors it's just barely what I'd consider portable. Heavier than many 410's and the same basic dimensions. My Berg 610 is a dream to move vs the HT322, but I think the 322 sounds better. It plays equally well with SS, Valve or Hybrid. 300 to 500 watts into this thing and you'll bring the house down. I'm guessing it has an exceptionally high SPL. You're gonna love it.
Congrats on the NCD!

Thanks G. I know a little about this cab. And i knew you had one. Yeah, the weight. Not to concerned, even if it is 98pds.
I think the GK will do it justice, like i'm gonna be able to push those 480 watts.

I had mine connected to a MM HD-150 running half plate at 75 watts with the amp gain and volume at maybe 25% each and my TB neck pup soloed with the volume at less than 50% and was able to (much to my wife's displeasure) rearrange all the China in her China cabinet which is located a floor below and at the complete opposite end of a 4500 square foot house. The cabinet is a moose on steroids!
I know just enough about cabs to know what I like (and this one is my gold standard). Maybe @dukeorock or someone else can chime in with an explanation on why this cab "seems" to put out so much more than any 410 I've tried.

Lovely!!!!

Just guessing, but the speakers in that Berg are monsters compared to nearly any 410 ever made. Way smarter enclosure design. 800 watts AND 102db sensitivity is pretty dang stout

Yep. The SVT212AV does 99dB @ 1W, (the Bergantino's) 102dB is the equivalent of two SVT212AVs. Monster.

Every single thing about speaker enclosure design involves compromise...often, speaker sensitivity comes at the expense of excursion...lots of dots to connect

I have noticed the Epiphone Thunderbird Vintage Pro basses have varying weights, mostly in the 9 lb range, though I have heard some get one that is 8 lbs. I get there will be varying weights, but I saw one at 10 lbs 10oz what could account for an almost 2 lb difference between what is essentially the same instrument?
My VP weighs 8.6 lbs. There will always be some variation in weight but I would think that most will come in at around 9 lbs. +/- .5 lbs.

BTW, I see that your avatar is a Hofner Ignition Club. That's the bass I bought before my Thunderbird, and I love both of them.

This is a very good point. Seems that some think that an efficient cabinet can be pushed harder. Not always the case. Regardless, once you reach the excursion limit, game over.

Sounded surprisingly great...just before it ate up the tape :/
Gotta get it fixed or replaced. These things are fun.

Also, while digging through boxes trying to find stuff, came across a couple photos of a Robert Plant Tour Legendary ShackShakers did in late ‘05/early ‘06
I never got my picture taken with Robert because I didn’t want to be ‘that guy.’ Now I’m wishing I would’ve been ‘that guy.’

RP seems to be quite enamored with the little lovely.
