Should only test one thing at a time...played with Derek Hoke tonight. Brought the Sunn Coliseum 300 and the ‘02 Gibson w/ Cobalt flats. At 8 ohms, the Sunn was barely hanging in there on the loud tunes. Gotta say I also prefer roundwounds with that amp, though I got a lot of compliments on the sound. A buddy shot a minute or so of one of the quieter tunes...can’t tell what I think...just wished I had rounds with that amp!

What I could hear, I like!

Yeah. Even missing a locknut. Make sure you get a replacement with all the mojo, though.

Is there a particular strap lock that works best with a TBird? The Jim Dunlop Original StrapLoks for my guitars won't work. These have screws that are both too short and too small in diameter for the holes in the TB. And the TB screws are too big for the holes in the lock bases. I'm not about to rig the bass to use smaller screws.

I have never tried one. Seems like a decent price for a 100w combo. It gets good reviews 4.5 stars at Musician's Friend.

I couldn't find this model with the two inputs(ehem), passive and active but I see the single input one was listed for $300.

I'm lined up to pick it up at 6 PM tomorrow. It's such a good price I'm sure I can flip it for profit after getting it back to "like new".

Of course I'll keep it if it does something for me more than my Roland KC-550.

I have been converted to Loxx. They don't project as far out as Schaller or Dunlops, and the part that attaches to the strap seems more secure and is far easier to install. Unlike Schallers, you are screwed if one fails, but I doubt that's very likely.

So much wrong in his narration... what a dork.

Yah, he relayed some informative bits but his sloppy delivery was unfortunate. It did show a pic of '63 IV with the strap peg on the shoulder. The following pic (rear view showing laminations) that also showed that peg location was a newer version so can't go from that one. I know there's debate on if this was done at the factory or not, but considering it is located in the same spot as where one was positioned on my '64 when I got it in '78 ... if I recall Carlo has a '64 w/o that peg location so It seems to have gone both ways. Not sure if there is an official Gibson statement on this detail.

I have a little B20 and it has a great tone - have used it for small venue's live and it does the job there also. Acoustic seems to be making nice amps these days.

I haven't been around much lately because of so much going on. My Grandfather I told you about has taken a bad turn. He was hospitalized for breathing problems and we found out that his lungs were only working at 20% capacity. He asked to go back to the nursing home instead of staying at the hospital, which is basically asking to die. My mother, who is handling his affairs, has decided to do as he asked. As much as it hurts all of us, it's his decision. This is a pic of Mom and Granddaddy.

So sorry to hear this, bking. End of life decisions are hard but so is losing someone suddenly. So good that his decision is being respected but it doesn't make it any easier to say goodbye.

I am sorry for what your family is dealing with. Went thru a similar situation last year with my father. Best to you and your family. We are here for you if you need us!!
