There was a fair amount of horse trading going on when these first came out, things have settled down now and you don't see them up for sale that often. Glad I kept my three.

When I think of bass players that complement Alex's style,... I can't think of any - not even MA. His style doesn't lend itself to being complemented.
As far as Billy Sheehan is concerned, he is known for his bass acrobatics, but he is also as solid as they come. The Mr. Big stuff cannot be denied in the realm of commercial hard rock. While there is plenty of noodling, there is also usually a pocket a mile wide and some of the sharpest hooks in the meat house.

I have to have fuzz now that I have tried bowing with fuzz. Fuzz bow is one of those sounds that's 100% necessary once you have experienced making it. Heed my sad story: if you haven't gone down that rabbit hole, don't do it or you will be forever ruined for bowing an upright without fuzz some of the time. OK, that's not such a sad story, but you get the idea. Fuzz bow is a blast!

Are you saying I need to replace the fDeck with a red box? Is this some kind of enabling, stirring, and GAS inducement going on? Inquiring minds need to know.

I did a bit of a shootout. Found the Broughton to be a bit more transparent, but I could be full of it :)

On my Traynor, I enjoy using both sides of the Broughton. Dime the lows and highs, then use the HPF/LPF to set the limits. Works for me, anyway

Well, Mars is a favorite of mine, and him with Tommy Aldridge was about as good as it gets. Mars is the kind of player that really "locks" with what the drummer is doing, though, and Alex is way too unpredictable for that, IMHO. Bogert is kind of like a rootsier version of Sheehan, so I'm not sure that would take, either. I know that Alex would drive me crazy, so maybe that's why I have such hard time with it.
