Thunderbird Club

Can I join? I built this about 20 years ago when apparently I wasn’t concerned about weight. It’s a beast at around 12 lbs.
3 piece maple neck through with ash wings - the wings are full thickness...
I was thinking about setting up a router jig and thinning down the wings, but doing that probably wouldn’t take enough weight off it to make it worth the effort.

I’m considering an Epiphone Vintage Pro. How’s the weight of those?Another option is building a Fenderbird. I have a decent blocked/ bound J neck looking for a body.View attachment 2967183 View attachment 2967184
That's really great! I bet it sounds as good as it looks, too. Building a Fenderbird or buying an Epi? This is TB. Both!

I've got a '96 Aerostar van w/323,000 miles on it that I can carry all my crap, including PA,and still leave the center seat in it. They don't make 'em like they used to. The only thing I've found that comes close AND will fit in my garage,is the MB Metris @ $38k +/-. Too rich for my blood.drool
My 2002 Express carries even more, and it's only got 142K miles on it. Band, PA, drum kit, amps, upright bass, and all that. It has a few band trips under its belt. I keep thinking about replacing it with a smaller van that burns less fuel, but it's paid for, only goes about 5K miles a year, and hauls everything without fuss or muss. So, no Metris or anything else for me for the foreseeable future.

Here's something that's not seen very often.

Currently in the classifieds, I have no affiliation with the seller.
Just thought to share another cool take on the T-Bird.
I dig that color too!

Yup. Until mine takes a total:poop:,I'll keep runnin' it. Much of my mileage is personal:numerous trips to WDW- my offspring works there so I visit and get in free :)

Thanks! It is a monster both in terms of sound and weight. I mostly used it tuned down to C# when I had a heavy band going.

Yeah I have 14 basses, what’s another 2? Plus my daughter plays bass, and she would look really cool with a Tbird:D

Plus, you are right close by in Vancouver. This is the thunderous corner of the world.

Nice stucco and a beautiful bougainvillea. Oh, and the basses look pretty good, too!;) What's the one on the left?

Depending on how big your daughter is, I noticed a couple of SS TBirds are for sale online($$):D

She’s 5’12” at 15 years old, took over my Pbass a couple of years ago and started upright in high school band last November. That said, we were figuring out some Royal Blood songs a few weeks ago, and that lends itself to SS. Hmmm...

I was going to post a series of videos of Geddy playing various basses, but that would upset the Kat.
So then I thought about only instrumentals, but that would not cover all the basses.

So, how about this. Geddy Lee talks, but doesn't sing:

Take a look behind and see the awesome collection.

Wow! 12 "Birds"(7 NR) and ALL with pup/bridge covers on 'em. Chucky Stiletti had asked me about mine in my avatar. Now I don't feel(quite as)strange.:D
