The clocks have just gone back. It's always easier to adjust to waking up an hour earlier than an hour later, particularly when you have a grey furry alarm clock jumping from a height onto your solar plexus.

I broke one once back in the 80s and another last year when retuning the Epi after some work -- it was probably the brass nut. A spare bridge for the Ōbiru wouldn't be significantly cheaper that the Hipshot. That + convenience may find me purchasing the Hipshot anyway.

Plus, chrome. Shallow is good.

The Redfern shop has oak, walnut and ash. The walnut is nice. The black ash may be nicer. Maybe one day, after we win the lottery...

On the rare occasion we buy furniture, we usually go for cherry with an untinted finish. None of that awful maraschino looking awfulness that turns perfectly good wood into Formica that escaped from a 1974 TV cabinet in a Chevy van. It darkens and reddens as it ages. No need for dyes or tints. And, as usual, I have no opinions about this kind of thing, only reporting facts.
