After reading TBird1958's post, I'm gonna go get a package, lay some out on Saran Wrap to match my PG, put it on the bass and take a pic. Then eat a few and take another pic, and so on. Then I'll post on tort hate.
Sounds like a fun thing to do! Do post pictures for our enjoyment!

And I may be late to the vintage car club postings - But here's my first car: A '72 Opel GT 1900 that I inherited after my dad in '97.

Foolishly I sold it several years ago...
I have no experience with the Bart TBird replacement pickups so can't comment on that. Pretty sure @dukeorock was selling a set of Gibson pickups. That would get you closer to original. Occasionally BlackBird pickups show up on the market but they aren't common.
I hope that you like the bass and you end up happy. They are bada$$ looking IMO.

Yes...Classic Epi was too white for me, as I love the Gibson cream white finish, I decided to make her a....cure of "UVs"
Also, as I installed Grover tuners, I could not leave him the black nut, as I changed the nut, I told myself that a Gibson truss cover was not too much...

I can see what you mean by the Dino 246, although I've always considered it being a mini-vette - A shorter and underpowered Stingray...
I was a fun car, which I unfortunately didn't drive enough to bond with.
On my first long drive to visit my family in northern Jutland, the transmission broke with the car stuck in 3rd gear, for the rest of the drive up there. Had it fixed locally and drove it a couple of times after that.
Usually had it in storage for the winter with the license plates stored (for cheaper "vintage" insurance in Denmark) - One day after having it stored for the winter and having the battery charged it wouldn't start. Having absolutely no knowledge about cars back then, and not really having the need for a car, I just left it in storage for many many years.
Since I didn't miss the car and it wasn't suitable as a family car, I decided to sell it.
Before the sale I had one of my bandmates to take a look at it - And all he did was to adjust the carburator, after which it started immediately...
It would have been fun still to have - If not for sentimental value, as it was one of the few items inhereted from my father that I actually liked and kept for a while.

Are the Gibson Blackbird pickups different from the original ones? I know the Epiphone DEEPSixx pickups are different from the stock Epi ones, but haven't read about differences in the Gibson ones, other than the lack of electronics which both models have.

Sounds like a typical car of the early 70s, constant niggley problems but not typical in that there are no obvious gaping rust holes so typical of the time and a far cry from the other vehicles Vauxhall/Opel were producing then, remember the Viva?
IIRC they were supposed to be wound a little hotter on the BlackBird. Between that and the pickups being wired together with only the kill switch, it was supposed to sound more aggressive than the traditional Thunderbird. My BlackBird and my 2001 ebony Bird do not sound the same and both are made within the same year.

Those old Opel GT's are often rust buckets like old E-Types can be. However my dad's old GT was imported from California by the previous owner and only ever driven by him and my dad in good weather, and kept in storage for the winter. So rust was limited on the car...
It was far from a thoroughbreed sportscar, although with a Weber carburator, a friend and I managed to do 110 mph on a test drive on the freeway. It was a scary experience though - sitting only a few inches above the ground in a small car with no airbags in modern traffic...
Speed limit was 70 mph by the way...

I love what you've done to it - Especially the yellowing... How exactly did you do that?
I don't doubt they sound different but I'm not too sure that they're wound hotter. It may just be the lack of circuitry...
Gibson is a lazy company and that's another reason I think they just threw in the same TB+ Humbuckers P/Ups.

Yes, yes! We have to know! Excellent job too! I was fooled and thought that you had snagged a mint vintage Gibson.
I should've paid more attention to the PG and it's Epiphone TBird Emblem.

What I noticed is with the exact same DR Hi Beam strings, my Cherry Tbird and the Blackbird sound very different unplugged. Really surprised me.
