Well... FWIW... ya bought it right! Ya got room to soak a few bucks into it, & still have gotten a good deal. I realize that's not nearly as cool as just havin' it be "right", straight outa the case...View attachment 2998028 So guys, New Bass Day!!! After a long many years of lusting for one, I have a Gibson Blackbird to go with my Cherry Tbird. It’s got a few dents, dings, and wear for sure, but seems to be solid. Practiced with her tonight, and she does have a different tone. Not as warm, and seems more “modern” sounding than my Cherry, almost mid scooped. Now one thing I wasn’t happy about was the Bartolini pups staring back at me when I opened the case. I was really hoping for it to be all stock. I don’t know ANYTHING about these pups and what they’re supposed to sound like. I’m gonna take a stab in the dark here and ask, does anyone have some pups from a Blackbird that they would be willing to part with? I’d really like for my Blackbird to be all stock. Anyone??
Just saw these online. Unfortunately this posting recently sold but 100.00USD for both is less than I was expectingView attachment 2998028 So guys, New Bass Day!!! I haven't had suet pudding since I was little, I will have to remember to make one next winterIn this life there are lines which must be drawn -- THAT is one of them.
About once a year we have suet pudding, usually beef with guinness.
Modded Classic Pro IV ???
How do you like that Behringer SVT clone?
Hmmm, I wish I hadn't posted that in that context, too late nowIt's a very old joke that I believe came back with US servicemen stationed in England during the second war and one that is very common among British car aficionados.
Glad I remembered it cause really like Christine's sucking joke. Better than the fridge joke imo.

I have been thinking about adding chrome pickups to my BlackBird but wasn't sure how it would look. This happened to turn up on eBay today so I snagged a couple pics from the listing. Thoughts/opinions?

Actually, I was mistaken it wasn't a mid 1960's Jag. It was a 1954 D-Type race car. Here's a link to the auction...

I prefer it black, not that the chrome looks wrong but black gives it a moodier look. Gloss body then chrome but matte, black but that's me
I would argue that Santa Cruz is NOT the Bay Area as it is west of 280 by a sizable margin.
When I worked in Santa Clara, I had a friend at work who lived in Santa Cruz. One cold (~40F in San Jose) winter morning, he couldn't get into work. There had been about 1" of snow on 17 across the 'mountain' so the road was impassable according to the traffic reports.

My second car. Paid 8000.00 in 1983!!

The good news is, you're really only 3 pages behind in the Thunderbird club. It's that darn vintage car club that you're 10 pages behind in.![]()
And bird just traded for the Duff bass, not signature but an actual 1986 MIJ jazz special
