IIRC it did have a short stint down under. But that may have just been for some racing venues vs actually living there.

The good news is, you're really only 3 pages behind in the Thunderbird club. It's that darn vintage car club that you're 10 pages behind in.How the Hell did I just get 13 pages behind??!!

That's probably true for all of us. Except the Freightliner part. And maybe the girlfriend part, depending.That's cool! All of my firsts: car, motorcycle, van, Freightliner, and girlfriend, long gone.

I then politely say to them "but with hurricane, you know when it's coming"... Then they look at you with glazed over eyes and say "I would still prefer an earthquake" HAHA!! I was here visiting my sister when the Loma Prieta quake hit in 89 and man I'll tell you...Give me a hurricane ANY DAY!!!

$8000 in 1983? That was at least one zero more than I had to spend on much of anything in 1983, but then I was fresh out of college in 1982 and into the teeth of that recession. If you had a stable income back then, you could have scooped up all kinds of things. Not that you would have had any inkling of the price insanity that has followed.
Here's my first car. 1966 Plymouth Satellite factory Hemi 4-speed, got it when I was 13. It still sits like this, school got in the way but it is on the to-do list. My dad's first car was also a 1966 Plymouth Satellite factory Hemi 4-speed, he didn't have the Hemi or the 4-speed, but it is the basis of my restoration (it's blue, not black).
Totally NUTS! I was looking at vintage Maserati pricing yesterday and fell off my chair! A Mistrale that I could have gotten for 10k in the early 80's is selling for 950000.00!!! Madness.
D-Types were selling for about 200 to 300k back then and GBassNorth's friend's just went for 12 million USD!

But no, in her infinite wisdom she has allowed the GenPop to partake in their harmless petty transgressions and foolish endeavors without any adult supervision. We already have a Queen for this club, but Kat should be crowned princess for her wisdom, perseverance, and compassion for bass players that might not have the intellectual capacity to fully understand the folly of tort accessories.

He never did anything to it. Traded it for a Shelby GT 500-which I drove a couple of times. Scary fast!
This is my first... drivable car. 1972 Plymouth Satellite with a 440. My dad built it before I was born. We rebuilt the engine in 2013 along with some other stuff, not too long after there was the pink-slip in my high school graduation card from him.
I Wanted the '69 Satellite but Needed the '69 Ford van(sigh)
Well, I should say my dad paid 8 grand for it after I graduated from HS.
Definitely number 1 dad in my book.
