But with two day's warning you can get out of dodge...Yep, when your times up, it's up. A once in a lifetime freak event could be the one that kills you. But statistically speaking, where I was living in Kentucky offered at least 25 times more increased opportunities per year to be physically or financially impacted than where I live now. Those are odds I'll take. Also do a quick comparison of the number of deaths in the USA over the last 100 years due to earthquakes vs hurricanes and associated flooding. One is a fraction of the other.
And keep in mind I'm speaking from my perspective and about where I live in Ventura county, just not a lot of issues here vs the Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley/Los Gatos homes in the hills. Fires, land slides, mud slides, earthquakes, fog, snow and ice could all be much more of a risk there than here.
As for advanced warning, 2 seconds before death is just fine with me. Two days advance warning of death or destruction from a hurricane, or two hours warning for a Tornado, or 2 minutes warning for a mudslide are all more time than I really want to think about my impending death or financial ruin. YMMV
Kinda like the first guy to crack open an oyster and think "Well, that looks tasty".With as much as I enjoy a good cuppa joe... I am not even remotely curious about this! I DO however, find myself curious about the first person to have tried it!![]()

The only thing it can get so hot in the south in summer, kills me that heat, lovely in the spring or late autumn. The north is the place for me in the summer. Certainly hoping to visit the country more now we've both retired from the daily grindAnd the people are great.
About the only good thing working for Delta was the travel benefits. Would go to Italy twice a month with some of the other gang who had family there.
I really miss that.
Same boat but I'm losing weight rapidly so I should fit it again by mid summer with luck but not if I keep eating pies![]()

Hey Guys! Mom and Dad are gone!Okay, I'm off on a little trip that will take me to Paris (Thanks Christine!) and later to Germany. I'll be with my family and along the way will have the chance to catch up with my friend Uwe Hornung in Frankfurt, for those of you not familiar with the name, it is he that owns almost all of the basses in our Bible, The Gibson Bass book. I'll be checking in and posting as WiFi allows, but I'd appreciate it greatly if one of you fine folks could keep track of any new member requests until I get back. You're own your own good behavior.
Meantime, Thunderbirds are GO!

As long as we're pondering the origins of cultural and sociological traditions and behavior... how about the phrase, "sh!t eating grin"......or, whoever thought about how to cook an artichoke...
