Thunderbird Club

I got this from Rob (Basvarken) a few months ago. It is one of the last Bach TH-1s so I had to grab it. It took me a little while to get the parts together to do a 60's conversion on her but with a little twist ;) I didn't have any w/b/w pgs on hand so I went with parchment/b/p with the stamped Tbird logo. Next was one of my 60's repro tail pieces. Off ebay I bought a N.O.S tug bar and a repro pickup cover. I stuffed the cover with a Dimarzio Model G using clear silicon as a adhesive and gap filler. I was going to buy a Thundebucker Max and may still at some point but I do love the Dimarzio Model G.

How did you stamp the logo?

I use the same process as Gibson. This is a business for me and I would rather not go into detail as I am the only one in the country making these. I will say it takes heat and pressure.

Corner Music in Nashville is a Mike Lull dealer, and they had several 5 string J's (yeah, yeah) and a bunch of vintage Fenders and a lot of different Stingrays from SUBs to MM's (all of which are considerably heavier than my Epi TBird). they also had a tobacco sunburst Lull TBird. It was a 5 string that frightened and confused me, but...wow. Beautifully made, played like buttah, and was priced appropriately (meaning "more than my truck is worth"). Totally amazing. Turned out to be a good weekend for finding TBirds in Nashvegas; they were nearly as plentiful as vintage P's this time. Cool gold Gibson and everything else you could want except a Pelham Blue and a White. At least, I don't recall seeing one. I may have been there anyway.

I finally had the chance to use my T-Bird (Epiphone Classic IV w/ Hipshot bridge & tuners) at church this past Sunday (for Mother's Day... Mom would of loved it!)...

Most of the songs were Rocking, the FOH guy commented on great it sounded in the mix. It was a good day.

What a great playing bass.

Basically what I ordered, except they're $549 in Canada. The first thing I'll be doing is breaking up that giant wash of white with a black PG. Then, either chrome covers with black rings, or just adding chrome rings. I haven't decided yet. Then, a black Hipshot bridge with chrome saddles & screws. :D
Does a gibson truss cover fit on these? Just curious.

No idea. I'm not going to bother, though. I want people to know what kind of awesome stuff Epiphone is putting out. :D

#376 here looking for some advice:
Looking for a new Bridge for my BlackBird, I am interested in getting a Babicz fitted to it, I understand that if I do I'll need make some modifications to the bass (New screw holes) but is it possible to do the modifications? Has anyone fitted a Babicz to there 'bird? Thanks!

It will fit, but you're going to be able to see the post holes from your old bridge. Personally, I'm going with a Hipshot Supertone. It's a direct bolt-in for Thunderbirds & other Gibson 3-point bridges.

I have seen them, but I am a sucker for looks ;) thank you very much!!

Well, after a period of inactivity during which our guitarist of the past ten years retired ( and we spent WAY too much time finding a replacement!) The Nasty Habits are back out on the road this coming weekend...Yay!

Here's what's making the trip!

Reliable and simple, with just one pickup :woot:

The TRC say Gibson, but really it's an Orville, rebuilt with a 2 point bridge and refined.

Are the Epi Thunderbird Pro IV and the Gibson the same exactly dimensions/size? Sorry if this has been mentioned.

No, no two versions are the exact same dimensions. The "Classic" is quite different in shape in fact.
