Quite a conundrum you have here. The Black Les Paul bass is about as badass as it gets... but the Bright Cherry 2018 Thunderbird is a limited edition. My hunch, based on Gibson's history with LE colors, is that it ain't gonna be around long, and will be highly collectable. (Vince will say it if I don't) There's only one solution. Ya gotta get BOTH!

Considering that Vince will be the new CEO of Gibson, once they figure out the best path to success, we can lobby him for KatBird red as a standard color. It will become the new standard for Thunderbirds. Kat will then start playing a green one, just because.

With @Dr_Feelgoood212 in charge, Gibson can become Gibson Bass, specialising in Birds, EBs and so forth ... with a limited run of Les Pauls or whatever every year or two.

Sunburst would be minimized
White, black, and red would definitely be standard colours
Custom colours would be an option again, and/or seasonal runs

There’d be a Gibson equivalent of AVRI series, so original style Thunderbird’s and EB’a

I wouldn’t get rid of guitars, but limit the Les Paul stupidity and lower the price so an average player can afford a Les Paul Standard again. Get rid of the HP series.

Well my Gibson case is made in the northern provinces. First time I see "Made in Canada" on anything in my whole life.

Definitely the first one I can remember.

Look at the ‘Made in…’ sticker on new Chargers and the (IIRC) performance GM engines.

Thunderfunk? Is that a brand?

Yes. Phenomenal amp with early roots in both Acoustic brand and Gibson brand amps. Company now owned by Dave Funk (hence ThunderFunk name). Very popular here on TB but because of its boutique type status not widely known in the bass world.

That’s not been my experience. My Gibson cases have a much more durable tolex covering. The one Epi case I’ve owned was new and it got scraped up just pulling it out of the cardboard box.
