Those ebony LP Standard basses are the sex!!!!! They hold their own next to a white TBird.

I have one of those here. I bought it years ago and have never used it. It is a hefty piece for sure. Just seems too large for me.

That's probably true about the tolex. I was thinking about the way the bass fits in the case. Every Gibson Thunderbird case I own, no matter the age, lets the bass flop around. The Epi cases hold the bass in the case and prevent it from moving around at all. And, eventually, every case I own gets pretty well scraped up, so the visuals aren't all that important to me. It's how well the case protects the instrument. Epi cases appear to do that a bit better. I like the brown tolex and pink inside for ehem value, but the fit is not as good. The odd thing is that the 2013 EB case fits like an Epi Thunderbird case. That EB needs less protection than anything short of a baseball bat Precision, and yet it has the best fitting Gibson case of all of them. Go figure.

Even after butchering, the Epi Bird case which I converted to an NR case fits pretty well, although I do line the body cavity with an old tshirt ... mainly to protect the KatBird from any glue residues and what have you.

I went looking for a box for the Epi last weekend. Pack&Send do not have a box big enough. I will have to make one.

You could always take the neck off:smug: Seriously, local music stores might have one. They gotta get the basses somehow.

Go to a bicycle store and ask for a box. Around here they'll give it to you for free.
