Absolute bollocks! You know and I know a pizza isn't a pizza without pepperoni and an olive and you're telling me that the ancient Greeks were importing Pepperoni from America 7000 years before Columbus dared to venture across the Atlantic. I think you're making that up :roflmao:

Just kidding :)

Seriously, really? Not just flatbread baked on a stone with some spilt stuff on it?
pepperoni LOL! Ah yes, what would the Commonwealth do without us..:D:D

Found these:

When was the pizza invented?

Legend has it that Esposito was called upon to make a pizza for Italian King Umberto I and Queen Margarita when they visited Naples in 1889. That pizza, which featured fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, and basil, is still known as Pizza Margarita today.

And

It is common belief that pizza was an invention by the Italians. However, the history of pizza goes back to the ancient times in the Middle East. The Greeks, Egyptians, Armenians, Israelis, and Babylonians were making some derivative of pizza in the ancient times. They would cook flat bread in mud ovens.

Edit: and this

Chinese legend surrounding the invention of pizza. There is a story in China that suggests pizza is an adaptation of the scallion pancake, brought back to Italy by Marco Polo.
Esposito entered a food contest to please the visiting royals. Being clever, he used ingredients representing the colors of the Italian flag, tomatoes, cheese and basil and named it after the queen. Needless to say, he won the contest..

Argument!!! There is a school of thought in my country (OK just me) that he actually used the colours of the Welsh flag as he had recently met a nice Welsh girl.

Believe that you'll believe anything, there are no nice Welsh girls ;)
