Thunderbird Club

I was in SF in January and I walked through the Tenderloin at 6am. There are still hookers plying there trade there at that time (the ones that couldn't turn enough tricks the night before by the looks of it).

My time in SF was marred with "world bicycle naked" day... lots more dongs than boobs... my kids thought it was gross and they weren't wrong. Friggin' freaks. :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

I used to work for a company for a while who had a branch in Leith, a district of Edinburgh (Kat's neighbourhood again). I was walking behind 2 hookers who were chatting, one said to the other "How can you tell when you've had a goon night" in her broad Edinburgh accent. The other replied "Oh when I have a couple of hundred quid (pounds) in my purse, whay about you Mary?", to which the first said "When I can throw my knickers at the wall and they stick there, then I know I've had a good night!"

I'll administer my own ahem!

AHEM!!

That wasn't a true story BTW :roflmao:

NEVER let the truth get in the way of a good story!

DAMN!!!!
Like it, great story..:hyper:

Whatever the kids' ages, what the hell do you say?

I joked about how bad their bicycle seats smelled and reminded them that it's just naked people and that we all know what privates look like. So basically I was of the opinion that they could look or not look... it's just attention seekers doing their thing. The kids were 10, 12 and 14 so they didn't really care that much about it other than to say it was "so weird and gross". We were all in agreement.

Why are they SO expensive? Not hating on Lull (never played one or seen one in person) but it would seem to me that for that price one could buy a body through Bicentennial...

Agreed.

From what our Queen has said though, the attention to detail in the work and delivering you a bass made to your liking and having it setup properly from Mike is where it's worth it.

I was about to say, hand built with a huge attention to detail. The body is 1 piece and shaped to look like 3, that all takes time and care as opposed to Gibson who have more of a production line going on. Hand made stuff is always going to be expensive and if you want it then you need to dig deep into your purse/wallet

I was busy all weekend. What did I miss? Anything about music or bass guitars?

Round, Stainless. I feel like stainless has a brighter tone, but it could just be me.. I'd never use flats on a TBird. Seems like a sin. Lol.

I have 3 T Birds, one of which has Cobalt flats and it sounds awesome. If I only had one T Bird, I’d probably run rounds on it, but there’s a lot of options, depending on what you’re going for.

What's with all these statements as absolutes?

I think D'Addario Chrome Flats are great.

I think it’s all about what works for each person, but there’s a small handful around here that seem to think if your tastes aren’t the same as theirs, you must be wrong. I get that it’s presented as a joke, but that doesn’t explain why the ‘joke’ gets pounced on every single day by the same people...over and over. And over. Part of why I love Gibson basses is because I don’t want to look and sound like everyone else. And they suit me for whatever reason. That’s not the same thing as saying everyone else is ‘wrong,’ and (sort of) joking or not, it’s becomming a total drag to read through the same broken record ‘jokes’ everyday.

Sorry for the rant. I’ve no desire to dictate what folks want to talk about, so obviously I just need to step away and find threads where folks like to talk about about gear and the process of making music and aren’t fussed by the fact that different folks like different things
