Here's an amp question for those in the know...

It's said that to double the output volume of an amp you need to increase the wattage ten fold. Said another way, a screaming loud 300 watt Ampeg SVT which can easily exceed any safe or sane volume levels when connected to an 810 cab is theoretically only twice as loud as a 30 watt amp through the same cab. Which if true causes me to wonder - why a 150 watt amp is considered by many as underpowered when theoretically a 300 watt amp is only 10% louder.

In real life usage I've never been able to dime my SVT-VR through my Berg 610 cab, and likewise I've never been able to dime my Musicman HD150 through the same cab. Both are incredibly too loud to max out at any normal indoor venue. However, the advantage I get with the Musicman is I can half the output to 75 watts and then crank the volume for some very sweet tube overdrive, that's harder to do with the SVT-VR which wants to stay fairly clean even at high volumes. Just an observation.

Real life experience is the key. I have never been able to crank my PF-50T at a gig (Through 2 x 210 AVs)
My band is not a loud rock band, but even outdoors with no FOH support...

Very loaded question, one that goes back to the famous specmanship wars of the 70s and 80s. Answering your question full circle would require nothing short of an engineering dissertation because there are so many variables. These would include, cabinet characteristics, speaker efficiency, subjective ear of the listener and many others.
In short, the HD 150 could never output 150 Watts RMS (root mean square) but MM chose it's peak power in creating the model number. A common practice back then. With 4 6L6 tubes, the max attainable output power is just over 100 Watts and. The 6550 as used in the SVT (6 of them) on the other hand can produce this power with one pair.

Below is an excerpt of the Tung-Sol 6L6 datasheet for the 6L6 in class AB1 operation. Note the power output on the left column in the second to last line at 26.5 Watts for a pair.

Now look at the power output from the Tung-Sol 6550 datasheet, using a pair of these on the last line furthest right column.

So, in short, the MM HD 150 really produces about 80 watts (true RMS, not peak) while the SVT produces in excess of 300 Watts (I've seen some do as much as 330) RMS power.

What is the material/finish of the pickguard? Hard to tell with my screen. Looks good from what I can tell tho.
It's called"mica"from Pickguardian.com. He has a variety of materials and finishes-including Tort(LOL) BTW, it's not your screen, it's My flip-phone:oops:

I had ordered a custom PG for my '67 NR TBird-original is cracked where they all seem to crack:up by the Thunderbird's left wing. So, this is what it looks like w/o the pup cover or the TBird decal I got from @LarryV. :) (Edit: I shall now duck!)View attachment 3037041
Now, With the decal and pup cover!

Evening all - sorry i’ve Not been around much, work is crazy at the moment!
Well today I played my first gig with the VP, and it was a blinder! We blasted Coventry Motofest, and I made the most of being wireless on a big stage

Nice! I’m bringing mine to it’s first gig tomorrow. I might also start wearing a wrist band again if I start playing more rock stuff with a pick.

Matches your strap pretty nicely.

Other people I know get Linked In messages from escorts. I get stalked by a homicide detective...
I've had two job offers off the back of LinkedIn (not as an escort :roflmao:) one of them since my current status reads "Retired". The first one I did go for an interview after they contacted me but I didn't want to leave the job I had at the time. Quite impressed with it, not sure I'd like a homicidal detective checking me out though :)
