All well and good to assume that a grounding in maths and science are what makes a successful adult, I agree they are useful skills to have but they just aren't for everyone. Me for example, even though I gained a bachelors degree in computer science and a masters degree in Astrophysics later in life (both heavily maths and science orientated) most of my life has been more associated with the arts. I would describe myself as being artistic rather than academic, as the person I am today I would say that art has had a greater part to play in who I am today than anything academic. Each child is different, some are artistic, some are academic, some are geniuses and some are plain useless. Each one of them should be allowed to follow the path that best suits them and the only way to let them find that path is to expose them to a wide range of options and see if and where they show an interest or excel

Ive been working with them for almost 25 years and they are generally very good people and out of respect to them I started learning Tagalog from them and I can hold small conversations in their language. When they see/hear me speaking their jive they light right up like a Xmas tree. My wife and I went to a 50th birthday party where close to 300 Philpinos were celebrating and we were the only white folk in the room. The Karaoke guy said "Canadian man what you want to sing"?. I said "Got any Judas Priest"? and they had the song Before The Dawn and I did a nice job nailing it down. 300 people cheering for the Canadian man!. Heinekens flowing my way all night long!.
