I've always tried to understand their purpose other than the mute of course as in Ps and Js. Don't think they do much for aesthetics but that's a personal opinion. Seems like expensive hardware to add for no reason.
Microphonic pickups is the only one that makes some sense.. Thumb/palm rest could be another?..

For me its strictly aesthetics, they do nothing otherwise although some have used them for a thumb rest. They are great for hiding beat up bridges and pickups.

IF theirs are the same dimensions as mine on the 67, it will fit-the Epi Bird 5er. IDK about other 5s.

3 weeks ago I exposed a Philipino co worker to a song by Judas Priest called Before The Dawn and today he showed me a video of him playing acoustic and his 13 year old daughter singing it. I was so impressed and proud of how well they covered it in such a short time. He promised me he would give me a link to a Youtube polished version so I could share with friends when its ready. Check the Priest version for yourself, might like it.

Philippinos make amazing musicians. Don't know why.. (listen to the current Journey singer).. Out there 95% of the pro covers bands I've seen are from the Philippines. They play in Jakarta, Kuala, Singapore, Boracay and so on. They literally sound like the record and surprisingly when you go to congratulate them they barely speak English...crazy...

Ive been working with them for almost 25 years and they are generally very good people and out of respect to them I started learning Tagalog from them and I can hold small conversations in their language. When they see/hear me speaking their jive they light right up like a Xmas tree. My wife and I went to a 50th birthday party where close to 300 Philpinos were celebrating and we were the only white folk in the room. The Karaoke guy said "Canadian man what you want to sing"?. I said "Got any Judas Priest"? and they had the song Before The Dawn and I did a nice job nailing it down. 300 people cheering for the Canadian man!. Heinekens flowing my way all night long!.

I believe that a solid foundation in math and science are critical for a child to become a successful adult. But I think the arts are a worthy pursuit for personal fulfillment.

I like the song ok, (and have followed PIL over the years) but what do a bunch of aged UK 'punks' really know about about Seattle? (and granted I've never been there) I looked at the lyrics...they don't offer much insight.

Ah yes but the few that excel in the arts will make money we will never be able to fathom doing what they love. I get your take on it though, I agree there too.
