Thunderbird Club

The really daft thing about Top of the Pops back then was that they they m ade the bands appearing play the songs during rehearsals to make sure they could actually play before they made them mime :roflmao: Only the BBC and the British attitude could come up with a show like that

Quoting my self, Billy no mates me :roflmao:

I remember someone years ago went on stage with no strings in their guitars to make a point

The ABC (Aust Broadcasting Commission or “Aunty”) had a similar show - Countdown.

Lead guitarist of Skyhooks, Red Symons, removed he hands as the close up for his solo came up.

Kind of coming at this from a goofy angle, but I liked Frampton-era Humble Pie. The man might of made some bad career decisions, but don’t tell me he can’t play that electric guitar.
I’m probably the only person that liked Bowie’s “Never Let Me Down”.

I do also.

Nice environment to have to escape to.

Beautiful. In the Blue Mountains on the west edge of Sydney. About 90 mins drive to / from my house to the walk and the village it is in.

My friend stopped by today and we opened up the Gibson Sixx Bird Mach II to see why the neck pickup "wasn't working" (according to the eBay listing the pickups "have to be replaced"). He plugged in and played for a minute and stated that there was no way this sound was only coming from the bridge pickup. It just sounded too loud for that, and that was my initial impression as well. We disconnected the pickups and measured the output; bridge 9.7k neck 9.67k. Both working and normal output!!!! Wired everything back up and cleaned up a few solder joints and everything is working just as it should! Installed a new set of DR Black Beauties and the bass sounds just like a Thunderbird should!! Long story short: I saved a LOT of money by purchasing it as "not working" and my hunch paid off. No need for new pickups!! I'm a happy boy

More non Bird content, Im probably burning my membership fast with this one. I fn' love this tune. Check out the dude on the horn in blue, its like he's ducking a low ceiling or bracing for an airborne beer bottle. They used to get death threats and they have been shot at so it could be that he is ready. Are You Ready?.

Love the wary glance from the keyboardist around 7:40! Speaking of being ready!

Great band.

I think i've overextended my membership way before i became official here.

Very killer tune, and i still like Precisions.

There's a story behind it, but I have a mid 80s MIJ Precision now. Got it for a very friendly deal from a work associate, it was an unexpected opportunity. Some of us know that opportunity does not seek approval... Tis a sweet player.
I'm now, though not yet ready, on the lookout for my 'Bird. Might even build it myself. Got some Padauk, some Big Leaf Maple... NR, perhaps.

My offering to our Queen.... Of course, it's a bit blatant.

Lets try this...…. As noted, maybe a little bit like "She sells Sanctuary"

I didn't post this. :roflmao:
