I love the Olympic Peninsula, I shot these in August a few years back, have a great trip Gordon!
I still remember this day at Red Beach, that sand was so nice to walk through barefoot!

Sunset at Hurricane Ridge, this looks south into the heart of Olympic National Park - takes your breath away, love all those beautiful big trees.

You might like Jervis Bay. Beautiful white sand and clear clean blue water.
Hyams Beach on the south side is a wonder.

Hyams Beach is a secluded settlement on the southern shores of Jervis Bay surrounded by National and Marine Parks. The Guinness Book of Records says it has “the whitest sand in the world”.

[Nocturnal]

It's not spectacular like farther north on the Olympic Peninsula, but it's got a peacefulness that's great. Plus, Long Beach is a classic tourist trap beach town, complete with bumper cars and a cheesy arcade and museum of goofy stuff.

It felt very "touristy" but was nice. Other areas are much prettier I would agree. Most of what I saw along the coastline was pretty nice and beautifully green. I live in the desert so the change of scenery was a nice one.

I’ll expand my thinking: I want to build a couple of posh Tbirds (akin to a posh Hells Angel ) figured tops and a red translucent finish with gold hardware, ideally gold pups too but none of note are available with any regularity so I’m thinking to go black; the Nordstrands look a fair bet I think/hope

Though I can't find them at the moment... I have seen gold covers and bezels for T-bird pups. If I can find them again, I shall forward them to you

Yes. It was really, really windy last time I was there (the wind would literally hold you up when you leaned into it) and the beach had this gnarly tide way out for what seemed like miles...totally crazy views. Didn't feel like planet earth. Wish I had taken some pictures. Never seen anything like that in my life..
To get there from Seattle you go through Aberdeen WA, a town that seems forgotten by time and home to guess who?..

I once stopped off in a bar in this town on the Olympic Peninsula coming back from a (completely unsuccessful) fishing trip:

I had stopped there to use the men's room. The graffiti was pretty amusing, if not entirely enlightened.

As I recall, it was raining.

There used to be a Thunderbird Hotel in Miami Beach, across from the Castaways. Nightly live bands. Both sadly gone.

I never knew Glenn Cornick played Thunderbirds, always thought he was a Fender guy. Learn something new i guess.
Always loved his bass lines because they were so melodic.

Yeah, primarily a Gibson players, the Precisions were usually on there as a backup, after the Jazz (which I believe was only on the first album). Here's a pretty good timeline of his basses:

They can be got from the Philly luthier, the problem lies in finding a reliable source of pickup to go inside them. If Gibson sold the TB+ I would use those without hesitation and strip the plastic off but I don’t want to have to rely on second hand parts for new basses. What I need is a top notch pup off the shelf
