Well that was just rock n roll, wasn't it? Funny how easilyI dismiss them, but that clip right there is what you pay to see, and it's worth it. I never bought in , never got to see them. Too bad! Lol, thanks for posting.

I saw them in early 75. One of the best shows I ever saw. Last time I saw them was 1883 right before they took off the makeup and it was just not the same. For me KISS ended with Destroyer.

Sorry, I've been away a couple days, off on a band trip to play in Sequim, WA at 7 Cedars - Love that place, it's so easy to load in, the sound crew is totally pro, and, we had a great crowd all night long - can't complain if folks are out there dancing at the first song. Pics if they surface later.
Regarding KIX, I really like them a lot, to me they're a bit gritty (Being from Baltimore will do that to you) and "East Coast", and more raunchy sounding than their L.A. Hair Metal contemporaries. Their bassist played a Les Paul and their guitarists work really well as a tandem, Steve Whitehead was considered for Motely Crew (glad he didn't!) and just seems to have the right voice for their music.
While not quite right for my band's setlist, I really like them!

A couple faves…..

There's a lyric here " a cup of tea, a barrel of fun, late at night even her stockings would run" that I really like.

IIRC David Price (999@ LBO and here) has a stock 60's Thunderbird, Carlo as well if memory serves.

I'll admit, I was never a Kiss fan, but seeing this live video, I see and hear their appeal.

I'm a little confused. Can you explain?

I'm already fantasizing about a DraigBird. It would have side dots on an ebony neck. No face dots. A dragon with wings on the fretboard, centered on the 12th fret but bigger than that. Parallel with the neck instead of perpendicular, so it would be right way up when you are playing it, not pointed at the ceiling. Small frets, because that's what I happen to like, and a 1-5/8" wide nut, minimum. Soft V back of the neck. Not quite a baseball bat, but certainly more substantial than the usual 'Bird. Double bound headstock that says Draig on it, like the current one you are making. Mahogany through neck with a two piece bridge. Bridge cover, single pickup, raised bit down the middle like a 'Bird should have. Tapered beeswing mahogany wings with radiused edges but no belly cut. Forearm cut on the front would be good. No need for a pickguard unless drilling for wiring is such a pita that it has to have one. Color? Some kind of transparent dark purplish red, not burst.

A man can dream, right?

The drilling is super easy on a Tbird with the wings being fitted late on in construction so losing the pick guard isn't an issue. The raised bit in the middle is also very easy in a through neck as Gibson make them, it's a self centring Vee joint just cut on a table saw with the wings thinner than the neck blank.

A double bound headstock? as in a black and white binding or a binding on both the outer edge abd the edge of the rebate?

The Dragon, it will be tiny, until recently I would have said that is beyond me but I have found someone who has more skill than me cutting pearl so it may be possible now. Any chance you could find me a picture of something you have in mind?

The only reason I specified Honduran, was because of the figuring. Any kind of mahogany would work beautifully, but an interesting grain pattern or other natural anomaly would look great under that red.

I do like tall frets! The width doesn't matter so much, but a well set up bass with tall frets is "where it's at", if yer lookin' for an easy playin' bass. I like stainless frets cuz they look clean and last forever.

As for the controls... one of the things I like so much about the Thunderbird, is how it reacts to subtle changes in how & where it's picked or plucked, as well as how the pups are blended. I have the distinct impression that nobody messes around with that stuff as much as I do. In fact... about half the folks here would probly prefer to straight wire everything & not bother with knobs at all! I like to mess around with dynamics when I'm playing (probably something I brought over from my years as a drummer). As you know, a stock T-bird is V/V/T. Playing with pickup balance involves 2 knobs (which can be tricky on the fly). Since I put that blend control on there... it's a simple quick flick of a single knob.

Stock Les Paul knob confiuration is:

A) neck pup vol.
B) bridge pup vol.
C) bridge pup tone
D) neck pup tone

The way I would like a T-bird set up, would be:

A) master vol.
B) blend
C) bridge pup tone
D) neck pup tone

Kinell! Story, a disaster story: Charlie Reid plays an acoustic, don't know what but he obviously thinks the world of it and it's what he likes to play, he has an identical spare that got swapped out for a song or even half a song for the roadie to retune it. Just as they went out for for a break before the encore he put it very carefully into a stand and walked off. Meanwhile the keyboard player get down from his platform and walks off but he either kicked Charlies guitar or caught his foot in the cable; end result was the guitar crashing down with a hell of a bang. The keyboard player picks it up and Charlie comes running back on clearly distressed but didn't quite reach it, then he stopped and seemed to calm down as all looked well. When they came back for the encore he picked it up, put it on only to find the bridge had been knocked off. Shame, it was clear they were both very upset by this but it probably wasn't the first time something like that has happened to them.

Just back from the hospital, I have torn a tendon so it's feet up for a while and no workshop I might try and rig up some sort of low bench in the garden when it feels a little better so at least I can do a little work. Another week and I could have been spraying which is time spent waiting for paint to dry, feet up would have been ideal then
