Thunderbird Club

Oh I thought you were playing a gig! You better rest that foot afterward anyway.

I’m still thinking about your build question. What I would want:
Neck through
Nitro finish
Lightweight tuners
Chrome or Nickel hardware
Hmmm, basically a Vintage Pro with a nitro finish and quality tuners. I’m not much help;)
God no! Thankfully we don't have a gig ourselves but I'd have to play that if we were, I'd have to shoehorn my foot into a pair of heels. I'll be of to casualty first thing in the morning to get this foot immobilised or whatever they need to do after they've had a look.

So no inlaid or bound neck or anything fancy? Bypassable controls?

OK I need your help again for my next builds which will be a pair of Thunderbirds, one of which will be possibly more open to customisation than the other (mine). Baring in mind that Lulls, Lollars and Thunderbuckers are crazy money over here is there any chance you guys could just give a list of features that might be on your dream Tbird. Just to give me a sort of idea what other people like beyond my craving for a red one :roflmao: So stuff like construction, electronics, decoration, finish etc. etc....

Thanks :)
IMO... there's no better construction technique than mahogany neck-thru, and it is also my opinion that some attention should be given to the backside of the neck/body joint (think neck-thru Music Man). I also happen to like a fat wide neck with a substantial volute. I believe a 4 in-a-row headstock is pretty much mandated to compliment the flow of the T-bird body. I love HipShot's 2 piece D-style bridge, and their UltraLite tuners would help keep the headstock off the floor. A while back, Carlo mentioned a volume pot that acted like a "true bypass" when turned all the way up. That is certainly worthy of exploration. Were it being custom made for me... I would have a control configuration like a Les Paul (guitar) sans toggle switch... but rather than vol/vol/tone/tone, it would be vol/blend/tone/tone. Tall stainless steel frets on an ebony fretboard. No binding or inlays (side dots only). Heritage Cherry over nicely figured Honduran mahogany body wings, and chrome anywhere you can find a place to put it.

Well pants! My bloody foot is killing me, I got a twinge on holiday and it's been slowly getting worse. I spent about an hour in the workshop today and had to get off it, it's swollen up like a balloon :( Can't go and get it sorted today in case I can't go to the gig tonight so hospital in the morning for me, not happy
Well that sucks..sorry to hear...stay tough.

A dragon at the 12th fret, but liberally intruding scales, wings and talons into the neighboring frets/positions...

Honduran Mahogany is a no go in the UK Brazilian too if you want FCS timber but maybe if you went to non FCS suppliers it might still be available but even then it couldn't be exported. I can go to our timber yard and choose very pretty African Mahogany but it is marginally heavier and much more difficult to work, it's what I'm building the twins out of
You like tall frets? Stainless on Ebony look good, I'll bare those in mind
Could you explain the "vol/blend/tone/tone." to me please :)

Got to go and try and squees a shoe onto my foot to go out now

Trouble with water is it makes me want to pee and that means walking :roflmao:

Just for you, SVTs, Grabber and...:laugh:

I was never a huge Kiss fan, but that was fun to watch. That’s a lot of SVTs for the Midnight Special stage!
I like that slide up he did at the end of the riff.
It’s funny to me how they were so creative with their costumes and stage show, but for the end of that song no one thought of using anything but an E chord...oh well, it worked for them.

Not hating but his playing never did anything for me..what's up with the haircut?

How about a dragon with a long tail and breathing fire so it’s spread across more of the fingerboard length. Kind of like the Michael Kelly Dragonfly ABG fingerboard, but way cooler cause it’s a dragon.
