On my Casady the back inserts stick out a little. If they are flush, I could see how you could pull out the inserts if you torqued the bolts down. A bit of lock-tite and less torque might be the answer - or washers if you can find the right size.

Whats the neck like in your JC bass?

As I recall from putting on my Hipshots, yes there is a route to accommodate the Epiphone ferrules. But, as part of the installation, I checked that the ferrules were firmly seated. I used the supplied bolts to try to pull out the studs. Once assured that the ferrules were firmly in the body, I went ahead. For all bolts screws etc. I tighten periodically since the vibration will inevitably loosen things.

And there's the problem, periodic tightening will exacerbate the issue. In the end, the bridge is not securely fastened to the bottom cavity of the ferrules and the coupling to the body happens only through contact with the body/bridge which isn't optimal.

I prefer the three point design for these reasons...

That's correct, now I remember it. The picture on the web page doesn't fully capture the beauty. I want it but I also really want to upgrade my amp and cab.

wow, pretty drastic. I wouldn't expect anything like that to happen at all. I'm just sharing what happened to me. Bottom line is; if you torque the screws on the Hipshot excessively the anchors will inevitably raise out of their intended position.
The problem is you can't see it happening because the bridge itself, sitting flush with the body prevents one from doing so. Only when you remove the bridge will you see the raised inserts.
Just a heads up

I'm prone to believe the previous owner had mangled the hole (I'm gonna take a moment to "ehem" that one myself!). It happened when I'd been workin' on the bass (tension on, tension off, repeatedly for days). One day, hours after I'd been workin' on the bass, the house was completely quiet... I was sittin' at the computer all alone, when a *SNAP* sent me outa my skin! It took me a minute to figure out where the noise had come from. Sher 'nuff... the anchor had popped up! The bridge popped as far forward and up as the other 2 pins would let it (took a little fur with it when it did).

It actually tore it up pretty bad. What yer lookin' at there is the result of me gluing every chip I could find, back into place. I'm ok with it. The BlueBastard is a fighter, not a lover

If it ever moves again... it'll be because the wood around it has rotted away.

Yes it is kinda toasty. It was terrible on your side since nobody has A/C.

I love my JC. The range of tones is great. It can be clean but it can get growly too by adjusting the impedance control. I would concur that they are a bargain.

My suggestion is to find one to try for yourself. Some find it neck heavy, but it is fine; just look at how JC plays his to see how to wear it. Lower on the hip is better - kind of like the way you put a Thunderbird. Up high will be problematic and I don't play mine sitting down - the body is too big.
