Though I personally am not much of an effects guy... I have no issue with those who are. My commentary was directed squarely at those who squeeze all the organic nature and actual TONE out of their sound, and feed us an earful of what they've turned into little more than an electronic buzz. I just gotta shake my head & laugh when I see somebody with a $3500 PRS, sittin' in front of a big pedalboard (which typically has at least 2 different distortion/overdrive pedals), running through an effects loop on a modern $3500 amp head (commonly with 2 - 4 different gain stages of its own), and pumping it through a boooooteek speaker cab with "specially selected" speakers in it. Invariably... the speed noodling begins, and guess what... they sound just like the kid you saw at GC last time you were there, who was playin' a used 200 dollar sweat-shop produced import guitar through a used 20 watt bargain basement 1x10 combo... except louderAdditionally, my amp goes WAY beyond your recommendations

Very cool. Thanks again.I didn't use it on last night's gig and I didn't wanna spout bad info, but in looking at it(right now), it has 1 input and 2 outputs: 1 dry, 1 "effect out". I don't have(OK, lost)the book of words but looking at the unit I think it might do what you want. Mine's kinda scratched up, but if you pull up a pic you'll see the set up on the left side. I'm gonna try the "splitting" thing-I have a phaser(set on "stun")somewhere around here. I never thought of doing that, but it'd be great for our trio gigs. Damn, ya made me think! And I'm barely awake.Unfortunately-for me, at least-it means schlepping a 2nd amp. Ah, the things we do for our craft.
ADDENDUM: OK, I hooked it up. More wires/cables,etc. It does exactly what you wanted. Biggest problem(besides the wires thing):getting a balance between the 2 amps. IDK if other octavers can do that, but the Micro POG does!

I like it. The gain and volume interact in a way similar to the GK thing- lo gain and hi vol for clean and shiny... hi gain and watch-the-volume for 'darker', woofier tones.
Eq is active +/-, and though not as surgical as the TE graphic, has a similar baked-in sound which I like.
It's got convincing heft, seems to make its own hear-able sonic space in a mix. Great big lows, pushy mids and a nice ear-smacking top end are all pretty impressive to me.
Little booger's got all the basics: Effective enough eq, dynamics from the gain stage (incl a compression function at high settings), DI, and headphone jack for quiet ptactice, if you practice stuff amplified, which I really don't, but hey.

REally? Haven't picked one up, but the Goth Flying V surprised me with how light it is.
