The main thing is the body thickness. The never milled the wings down so the majority of it is almost half an inch thicker than a standard Bird

The thicker center section on '63-'65 birds was the neck-thru piece with tapered wings grafted on. I have an Epi bolt-on neck T-bird body where the raised center (f&b) sections are added-on (separate pieces of wood) - body is 1-1/4" and with the added on center sections it's a bit over 1.5"

I have no clue why they didn't do something similar to the Epi, or even just milled the wings down, but they didn't. I'll take a measurement in the morning.

Just using a tape measure, my Studio is about 1-5/8" thick across the whole body.

Well, on any T-bird body that isn't a neck-thru, that raised center section becomes a superfluous visual reference to the gen1 T-bird - as in, it really doesn't need to be there. So by just doing essentially a 'slab' body (no raised center add-ons) it's a cleaner, more modern look. The weight issue comes in because instead of choosing to do the slab in 1-1/4" they did it in 1.5" (more wood-thicker-heavier) 1-1/4" is sufficiently thick for a the control & pu cavities and neck pocket. Vintage Rippers/Grabbers are thin bodied basses so not unusual for Gibson to do this.

edit: 1-5/8" ... so a bit over 1.5"

So ya, nearly 1/2” thicker on majority of the body

How's that for some weather!! :sour::sour::vomit::vomit:
I'd take 45*C with no humidity over 'feels like' or 'humidex' of 40*C any day.
