Let’s all take a moment and wish our Queen a Happy Birthday!
Have a great day, Veronica!
Happy Birthday Veronica!
Happy Birthday V !
Happy Birthday Queen V!
Many happy returns Mark! Lol, I never thought I'd make it this far either - so, cheers! ...and it's good to know you, even from a page on the internet.Thank you all!
I've had a few days off from work to play that show on Friday and spend Saturday afternoon with my family. We got together at brother's place in downtown Seattle for some wonderful German food and quiet time, which I really enjoy. I'm 60 this year, never, ever thought I'd be this old! Love the time I spend with my family more than anything.
Yes,no and maybe. I'm 75-100 miles north of Miami/ Ft. Laud. I have no idea what's left down there venue wise. Most of the places from the 70s are history. We have no contacts in the area. We're not a salsa band. Even Palm Beach county-just south of our guitarists-has very little except during the "tseason". Except for the 21-35 crowd, people aren't going out as much as the 70s-80s. And places can pay 1 DJ 1/2(or less)what they'd pay a band and the money spending crowd is happy with mindless march tempo EDM. WT7 [emoji needed for "sigh" in resignation/frustration]Isn't there more in Dade/Broward?
Sounds like our "winter"How's that for some weather!!
I'd take 45*C with no humidity over 'feels like' or 'humidex' of 40*C any day.

Anybody we know?Feels cooler on the water, so I am out the door in about 10 minutes to go paddling.
And from me, too!Happy Birthday Queen V!!
South Beach had some venues there in the 90s- Stephen Talkhouse, Cactus Cantina, Washington Square... and there's Churchill's Hideaway over in Little Haiti, great venue and historically a fav haunt for the Miami music scene. Thanks, Rog. I'll talk to the guys in the group. IDK if any of the others would drive that far. I used to drive 18 wheelers up to 550 miles a night so it's no BFD to me. Maybe get a utility trailer to pull with my van and ride together.South Beach had some venues there in the 90s- Stephen Talkhouse, Cactus Cantina, Washington Square... and there's Churchill's Hideaway over in Little Haiti, great venue and historically a fav haunt for the Miami music scene. Tell 'em Roger the bass player from the Volunteers sent you...
It would take a while, thats for sure. Unless you just scuffed it and painted right over the poly. Multiple layers of impervious plastic!I’ve had thoughts of buying an Epi body and refinishing it for a Fenderbird, but then I considered the task of stripping the poly. It would probably be easier to build a body from scratch.
My son gave me pinks socks that say BOOBIES on them in big letters. I get a kick out of sneaking them past in otherwise solemn and conservative meetings.Loaner shoes? I won't do that. If I had to, I would go into town and buy safety boots if I had to (and expense them later).
One of the joys of international entrepreneurship; some fashion freedom. I have a couple of white shirts, but I tend toward colours. French cuffs with interesting cufflinks. And I wear bowties - I get noticed and remembered; that is important when you are a small company and need to make a big impression. My favourite bowtie has little skulls and crossed bones on the back. It goes with the skull socks.
And for what it is worth, meetings with investment bankers always go well if you wear Motorhead socks...
None when you have a belt sander.Just how much paint does it take to obscure 7 serial #s?
Churchill's was my favorite venue ever. 30 kinds of beer, good bar food, nice lifted up stage and a crowd used to going to see live music (read: "Spoiled")...Thanks, Rog. I find the P is far more ill mannered thand Thunderbirds. The P's headstock is a cranium seeking missile. The Tbird headstock is good for keeping bandmates in line.
Happy Birthday! Getting older is much better than the alternativeThank you all!

The Vintage Pro headstock is pretty large. I haven’t clocked anybody with it yet, but some of our rehearsals get crowded when there are 3 horns. It’s only a matter of timeI find the P is far more ill mannered thand Thunderbirds. The P's headstock is a cranium seeking missile.
I remember some snazzy outfits playing Martini hour at The Breakers or Cafe Epicurean and places like that in PB. Is that all gone? I would imagine PB would have a really lucrative private party circuit as well..Yes,no and maybe. I'm 75-100 miles north of Miami/ Ft. Laud. I have no idea what's left down there venue wise.
