Thunderbird Club

A while ago, I read that Gibson necks are hand-shaped and no two are exactly alike. I'm not sure how much truth there is to this, but the Gibsons and Epi Classic Pros I've played all feel very similar.

That being said, I love the chunky neck on my standard bolt-on Epi. In some ways I prefer it, even though my Classic is objectively the better of the two.

...that Pelhan Blue would've been mine. :(

It would've showed up at the house and I'd say it was a bargain and she'd say that's good. She knows I'll at least break even or make money on my basses so they're just money hanging on the wall that I get to play with. She trusts my judgement which is key.

We should talk... I helped my wife out by delivering some cupcakes to a Pawn Shope this afternoon (she makes those fancy custom cakes like you see on TV,) and guess what was hanging on the wall... It's not hanging there anymore. I don't really neeeed two blue 'Birds but the price was fair enough. :)

A friend in need, is a friend indeed..! :)

I recall a club member on one of the Facebook groups (can't remember who) had visited the Nasville factory and said they were all done by CNC machines now - Only the lefties were done by hand in the custom shop...

Friends where I work who also play music keep telling me to drop into some pawn shops and I might be surprised.

So, what kind of shape is the one you're thinking about selling?

Been away from the forums for a week or so.

Belated birthday Mark

Here's the pics I promised of the re-finished "Warbird".......enjoy ( PS the Mandalorian 'mythosaur' skull is covering a dent :( )

Pretty darn good shape! Only blemishes I've found is a very small scuff of the paint on one edge of the end of the headstock. It's still got all three stickers on the back of the headstock and the protective plastic on the electronics cover.

The only other thing of note is that the neck and body colors aren't an absolutely perfect match. Both are definitely original, but the body has a very, very slight "yellowed" tint that the neck doesn't have. I'll see about getting some pics later.

I just want to say; I don't even own a 'bird yet (will be pulling the trigger on a classic pro one of these days), but I love this club. You guys are always so pleasant and welcoming, it's almost like it's not even Talkbass! I love the look and sound of T-Birds, and can't wait to get one. I keep up on all things Bird by reading the new posts here every few days. I'm hoping that Epi might do a run of Classic Pro's in Pelham Blue, or Heritage Cherry, but I'd likely be just as happy with the classic tobacco burst. The white ones look fantastic, but I already have 2 white basses and don't want to be labeled a racist bassist!

Thank you - We're a happy group here, you're always welcome to post, even if you don't own a 'Bird (yet) :)
I'm hoping Epiphone will produce some other finishes on Classic too, Cherry would be perfect, add some nice chrome hardware = Thunderbird perfection!

Oooooooooo, a cherry bird. Yes, I'd be all over that.

I'm also wishing they would finally re-issue the Embassy Deluxe... in cherry... and white! ...I'll take a blue one, too.

Inverness Green wouldn't be too bad either... ;)

I don't think the mismatched color is that bad - No one will ever notice that unless they are told, and in a live setting it won't be noticeable at all...

I definitely wouldn't 7enderize it - It's a Korean model, which is otherwise flawless except for the little scuff on the headstock - But then again, I don't like natural necks, maple fretboards and absolutely hate 7ender headstock designs... ;)

So true! I consider this club an oasis in a sea of snark and silliness. And, on top of that, TBirds are awesome instruments. Deceptively light and playable, while sounding thunderous. Looking forward to seeing pics of your bird when you get it!

I don't notice the color difference much either and it wouldn't bother me to own that bass at all.
